5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Siren and Strobe Operation
The Siren 6 can be activated via your Z-Wave gateway to emit sound and light alerts. It features:
- Sound Alerts: Pre-loaded with 6 security sounds, 8 safety sounds, and a total of 30 tones. Each tone's volume is adjustable between 80dB and 110dB through your Z-Wave controller's settings.
- Visual Alerts: A 1,000 lumens strobe light provides a visual warning.
You can configure your Z-Wave scenes and automations to trigger specific sounds and light patterns based on events from other sensors (e.g., smoke detectors, door/window sensors, motion sensors).
5.2 Backup Battery Functionality
The Siren 6 includes a built-in Lithium Ion backup battery, providing up to 4 hours of operation in case of a power outage. This ensures your security system remains active even if the main power supply is interrupted.

5.3 Doorbell Function (with Aeotec Button)
The Siren 6 can also function as a doorbell when paired with an Aeotec Button (sold separately). Up to three Aeotec Buttons can be paired directly with the Siren 6 without requiring complex Z-Wave automation. Each button can trigger a different chime sound.
- Pairing Aeotec Button: Follow the instructions provided with your Aeotec Button to pair it with the Siren 6.
- Customizing Chimes: Use your Z-Wave gateway to assign specific chime sounds to each paired Aeotec Button.

5.4 Tamper Alarm
The Siren 6 is equipped with a vibration sensor that can detect if the device is being tampered with or removed from its mounting location. This can trigger a specific tamper alarm sound and alert your Z-Wave system.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
To clean the Siren 6, gently wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or wet cloths, as these can damage the device.
6.2 Battery Care
The internal Lithium Ion backup battery is designed for long-term use. If the device is consistently powered, the battery will remain charged. In the event of a power outage, the battery provides temporary power. There is no user-replaceable battery compartment. If the battery performance significantly degrades over time, contact Aeotec support.
6.3 Firmware Updates
The Aeotec Siren 6 supports Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware updates. Your Z-Wave gateway may automatically detect and prompt for available updates. For manual updates or more information, refer to the official Aeotec support resources:
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Device Not Pairing with Z-Wave Gateway
- Ensure your Z-Wave gateway is in inclusion mode.
- Make sure the Siren 6 is powered on.
- Try performing a factory reset on the Siren 6 (see Section 4.4) before attempting to pair again.
- Move the Siren 6 closer to your Z-Wave gateway during the pairing process.
- Verify your gateway is compatible with Z-Wave Plus S2 devices.
7.2 Siren 6 is Unresponsive or "Locked Up"
If the device becomes unresponsive to commands from your Z-Wave controller:
- Power Cycle: Disconnect the power adapter from the wall outlet and from the Siren 6. Wait for approximately 30 seconds, then reconnect the power. This will force a restart.
- Battery Depletion (if power cycle fails): If the device remains unresponsive after a power cycle, it might be in a state where the internal battery needs to fully deplete before it can reset. This can take several hours.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort, perform a factory reset (see Section 4.4).
7.3 Siren Volume is Too Low or Not Changing
- Check the volume settings within your Z-Wave gateway's device configuration for the Siren 6. Ensure it is set to the desired level (80dB to 110dB).
- Some Z-Wave controllers may have specific parameters for volume control. Consult your gateway's documentation.
7.4 Accidental Tamper Alarm
If the tamper alarm triggers unexpectedly, check the mounting of the Siren 6. Ensure it is securely attached to the wall and not subject to vibrations or accidental movement.
