Google Assistant
Access the Google Assistant by squeezing the sides of your phone or by saying "Hey Google." The Assistant can help you with tasks such as setting reminders, getting directions, making calls, sending messages, and providing information.
Battery Management
The Pixel 3 XL features an all-day battery. To optimize battery life, the phone intelligently limits usage for apps you don't frequently use. You can monitor battery usage and enable Battery Saver mode in the Settings menu.
Call Screen
Utilize the Call Screen feature to screen unknown callers and block spam or nuisance calls. When an unknown number calls, you can tap "Screen call" to have the Google Assistant answer and transcribe the conversation in real-time, allowing you to decide whether to pick up.
Digital Wellbeing
Manage your screen time and focus with Digital Wellbeing tools. Set app timers, turn off visual notifications, and use Wind Down mode to gradually prepare for sleep by turning the screen to grayscale.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen and body of your phone. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- Protection: Consider using a protective case and screen protector to guard against drops and scratches.
- Software Updates: Keep your device's software updated to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Updates are typically downloaded automatically and can be installed from the Settings menu.
- Storage Management: Regularly review and delete unnecessary files, photos, and apps to free up storage space and maintain device speed.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Solution |
|---|---|
| Phone not turning on | Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a charger for at least 15 minutes, then try powering on again. If unresponsive, perform a force restart by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds. |
| Battery drains quickly | Check battery usage in Settings to identify power-hungry apps. Reduce screen brightness, disable unnecessary features like Bluetooth/GPS when not in use, and enable Battery Saver mode. |
| Apps are slow or crashing | Clear app cache (Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Storage > Clear cache). Ensure apps and system software are updated. If an app consistently crashes, try uninstalling and reinstalling it. |
| Screen display issues (e.g., discolored, hazy) | Check display settings (Settings > Display) for color correction or night light modes that might be enabled. If the issue persists after a restart and software update, it may indicate a hardware problem requiring professional service. |
| Phone is locked (not unlocked as expected) | Ensure the latest software updates are installed. Sometimes, an initial system update is required to fully activate the unlocked status. If issues persist, contact your carrier or the seller. |
