4. Operating Instructions

Once connected to your Inkbird IRF-4S thermometer, the oven probe will transmit temperature readings to the main unit. Refer to your Inkbird IRF-4S thermometer's manual for specific instructions on how to view readings, set alarms, and utilize other features.

  • Monitoring Oven Temperature: Place the probe tip inside the oven, grill, or smoker. Ensure the tip is not touching the food or the walls of the cooking appliance for an accurate ambient temperature reading.
  • Monitoring Food Temperature (Indirectly): While primarily an oven probe, it can be used to monitor the general temperature around food. For direct internal food temperature, a dedicated meat probe is recommended.
  • Temperature Range: Be mindful of the probe's temperature limits. For continuous monitoring, do not exceed 250°C (482°F). Short-term exposure up to 300°C (572°F) is permissible.

5. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the accuracy and extends the lifespan of your oven probe.

  • Cleaning: After each use, allow the probe to cool completely. Wipe the stainless steel probe tip with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storage.
  • Do Not Immerse: Do not immerse the probe cable or the jack connector in water or any other liquid. This can damage the internal wiring and electronic components, leading to inaccurate readings or malfunction.
  • Cable Protection: Avoid bending or kinking the probe cable sharply. Do not expose the cable to direct flames or extreme heat sources that could burn or melt the insulation.
  • Storage: Store the probe in a clean, dry place at room temperature when not in use.

6. Safety Information

Please observe the following safety precautions:

  • Always handle the probe carefully, especially when hot. Use heat-resistant gloves if necessary.
  • Keep the probe and its cable away from children and pets.
  • Ensure the probe cable is not pinched by oven doors or grill lids, which can cause damage.
  • Do not use the probe for purposes other than temperature measurement in cooking environments.
  • If the probe or cable shows signs of damage, discontinue use immediately to prevent potential hazards or inaccurate readings.
