4. Setup and Installation

The Schellenberg 50642 fly screen features a simple adhesive fixing method, requiring no drilling. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Measure Your Door Frame: Ensure the dimensions of your door frame are suitable for the 90 x 210 cm screen. The screen can be trimmed if necessary using the provided cutting knife.
  2. Clean the Surface: Thoroughly clean the door frame where the screen will be installed. The surface must be free of dust, grease, and moisture to ensure proper adhesion of the tape.
  3. Apply Adhesive Tape: Attach the Velcro and spongy tape to the top and sides of your door frame. Press firmly along the entire length to ensure a strong bond.
  4. Attach the Fly Screen Panels: Carefully align the two polyester screen panels with the adhesive tape on the door frame. Start from the top center and work your way down the sides. Ensure the magnetic strips in the center of the panels meet perfectly.
  5. Secure Magnetic Blocks: Position the two magnetic blocks at the bottom center of the screen, ensuring they align with the magnetic strips for a secure closure.
  6. Test Closure: Walk through the screen to ensure the magnetic strips close seamlessly and automatically behind you. Adjust the positioning if necessary.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life and effectiveness of your fly screen.

  • Cleaning: The polyester fabric is UV-resistant and washable up to 30 °C. For light cleaning, gently wipe the screen with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, detach the screen from the frame and hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle at a maximum of 30 °C. Do not bleach or tumble dry.
  • Adhesive Longevity: Periodically check the adhesive tape for signs of wear or reduced stickiness. If necessary, replace the tape to ensure the screen remains securely attached.
  • Storage: During off-season or when not in use for extended periods, detach the screen, clean it, and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to prevent material degradation.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Screen does not close completely or leaves gaps.Misalignment of magnetic strips; weak magnetic attraction; screen stretched or improperly installed.Re-align the screen panels to ensure the magnetic strips meet precisely. Check if the magnetic blocks are correctly positioned at the bottom. Ensure the screen is not stretched too tightly during installation.
Screen detaches from the door frame.Adhesive tape losing stickiness; improper surface preparation; excessive force on the screen.Ensure the door frame surface is clean and dry before applying tape. Replace the adhesive tape if it has lost its stickiness. Avoid pulling or pushing the screen excessively.
Insects are still entering.Gaps in installation; damaged mesh; screen not fully closed.Inspect the entire perimeter of the screen for any gaps between the screen and the door frame. Check the mesh for tears or holes and repair if possible. Ensure the magnetic closure is fully engaged after passage.
