Setup

Proper setup is crucial for safe and effective operation. Follow these steps carefully.

1. Unpacking and Assembly

  1. Remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Assemble the Hi-Boy cart according to the included assembly guide.
  3. Securely attach the motor and pump assembly to the cart.
  4. Connect the high-pressure hose to the fluid outlet on the sprayer and to the spray gun. Ensure all connections are tight.
  5. Install the appropriate spray tip and tip guard onto the spray gun.

2. Initial Priming

  1. Place the inlet suction tube into a container of clean water or appropriate solvent (for flushing).
  2. Place the return tube into a waste pail.
  3. Turn the prime/spray valve to the "Prime" position.
  4. Turn on the sprayer. Allow the pump to run until fluid flows smoothly from the return tube, indicating air has been purged from the system.
  5. Turn off the sprayer.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective and safe spraying.

1. Preparing the Material

  1. Ensure the paint or coating is properly mixed and strained to remove any lumps or debris that could clog the sprayer.
  2. Place the inlet suction tube into the paint container.
  3. Place the return tube into the paint container.

2. Spraying Technique

  1. Turn the prime/spray valve to the "Spray" position.
  2. Turn on the sprayer and adjust the pressure control to the desired setting. Start with a lower pressure and increase as needed to achieve a consistent spray pattern.
  3. Hold the spray gun perpendicular to the surface, approximately 10-12 inches away.
  4. Begin moving your arm before pulling the trigger and release the trigger before stopping your arm movement. Overlap each pass by about 50%.
  5. Maintain a consistent speed and distance from the surface for an even finish.

3. Shutting Down

  1. Turn off the sprayer.
  2. Engage the trigger lock on the spray gun.
  3. Turn the prime/spray valve to the "Prime" position to relieve pressure.
  4. Disconnect the power cord.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your sprayer and ensure optimal performance.

1. Cleaning the Sprayer

  1. After each use, flush the system with an appropriate cleaning solution (water for latex paints, mineral spirits for oil-based paints).
  2. Remove the spray tip and tip guard, clean them thoroughly with a brush and cleaning solution.
  3. Clean the filters in the spray gun and suction tube.
  4. Circulate the cleaning solution through the sprayer until it runs clear.

2. Storage

  1. After cleaning, add a small amount of pump protector fluid to the system to prevent corrosion and freezing.
  2. Store the sprayer in a clean, dry, and temperature-controlled environment.

3. Regular Checks
