5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Scanner

  • Ensure the scanner is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the scanner.
  • For the scanning area and film/photo holders, use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust. Avoid using liquid cleaners directly on optical components.

5.2 Handling Film and Photos

  • Always handle film and photos by the edges to avoid fingerprints and smudges.
  • Use cotton gloves (often included in the package) when handling delicate media.
  • Ensure film and photos are free of dust and debris before scanning to prevent artifacts in your digital images.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • No Image on LCD / "No Card" Error:
Ensure an SD card is properly inserted if you intend to save images. If scanning without an SD card, ensure the scanner is connected to a computer in MSDC mode for direct transfer or that the internal memory is not full.
  • Poor Image Quality (Blurry/Dusty):
Clean the film/photo holders and the scanner's optical path as described in the Maintenance section. Ensure the original film/photo is clean and free of scratches. Adjust brightness, color, and exposure settings on the scanner.
  • Scanner Not Recognized by Computer:
Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the scanner and the computer. Select 'USB MSDC' mode on the scanner's menu. Try a different USB port or cable. Restart both the scanner and the computer.
  • Film/Photo Not Feeding Smoothly:
Ensure the film or photo is correctly placed and secured in its respective holder. Check for any obstructions in the feeding path.
