3. Product Overview

3.1. Radio Components

- Antenna: For transmitting and receiving signals.
- LCD Display: Shows channel number, battery status, and other operational indicators.
- CH 16 Button: Quickly switches to Channel 16 (emergency channel).

4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.

4.2. Antenna Attachment
- Screw the antenna clockwise onto the connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
4.3. Charging the Battery

- Connect the power adapter to the charging cradle.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard AC outlet.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off
- To power on, press and hold the POWER button (often integrated with the LOCK/H/L button or a dedicated button) until the display illuminates.
- To power off, press and hold the POWER button again until the display turns off.
5.2. Volume Adjustment
- Press the MUTE/VOL button.
- Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons to increase or decrease the volume level.
- Press MUTE/VOL again to confirm or wait for the setting to auto-save.
5.3. Channel Selection
The RT55 supports 88 international marine channels.
- Press the CH button.
- Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons to select the desired channel.
- Press CH again to confirm or wait for the setting to auto-save.
- To quickly access the emergency channel, press the dedicated CH 16 button.
5.4. Squelch Function
Squelch eliminates background noise when no signal is being received.
- Press the MONI/SQL button.
- Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons to adjust the squelch level (typically 0-9, where 0 is open squelch and 9 is maximum squelch).

The RT55 can receive weather alerts on dedicated weather channels.

- Access weather channels via the TAG/FAV button or a dedicated menu option.

5.7. Floating and Vibration Drainage
The RT55 is designed to float if dropped in water and features a vibration drainage function to clear water from the speaker.
- If the radio falls into water, it will float to the surface.
- To activate vibration drainage, typically press and hold a specific button (e.g., MONI/SQL or a dedicated drainage button) for a few seconds. The radio will emit a vibrating sound to expel water.
