System Requirements
To ensure optimal performance, your environment must meet the following specifications:
- WiFi Router: 2.4 GHz 802.11 b, g, or n compatible.
- Smartphone or Tablet: iOS 8+ or Android 4.4+ operating system.
- Internet Connection: Minimum 1.0 Mbps download bandwidth per camera.
Setup
1. Camera Placement
Choose a location that provides the desired viewing angle and is within range of your Wi-Fi network. The camera can be placed on a flat surface or mounted to a wall.
2. Wall Mounting (Optional)
If mounting to a wall, use the provided wall mount bracket and hooks. Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the camera's weight.

3. Power Connection
Connect the camera adapter to the camera and then plug it into a power outlet. The camera will power on automatically.
4. Network Connection
The camera supports Wi-Fi connectivity. Follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide to connect your camera to your home Wi-Fi network using the VTech mobile application.
Note: An RJ45 Ethernet cable is included for initial setup or wired connection if preferred.
Operating Instructions
Mobile Application Control
The VTech VC990 IP Camera is primarily controlled via a dedicated mobile application on your smartphone or tablet. Download the official VTech camera application from your device's app store.

- HD Live Video Streaming: View real-time high-definition video feed from your camera.
- Automatic Night Vision: The camera features 10 infrared LEDs for clear viewing in low-light conditions, activating automatically when needed.
- 10x Digital Zoom: Zoom in on specific areas of the video feed for a closer look.
- Two-Way Talk: Use the microphone on your mobile device to speak through the camera's speaker, and hear audio from the camera's microphone.
- Pan and Tilt Functionality: Remotely adjust the camera's viewing angle (left, right, up, down) through the mobile application.
- Motion Detection and Alerts: The camera automatically detects movement and can be configured to send instant alerts to your mobile device.
- Video Recording: The camera can automatically record video clips when motion is detected. You can also manually record video clips to your mobile device.
- Sleep Mode: Deactivate motion detection and video viewing by placing the camera in sleep mode when recording is not desired.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Camera
To clean the camera lens and body, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays, as these can damage the device. Ensure the camera is unplugged before cleaning.
Software Updates
Periodically check the VTech mobile application for available firmware updates for your camera. Keeping the firmware updated ensures optimal performance and security.
Environmental Conditions
Operate the camera within recommended temperature and humidity ranges. Avoid exposing the camera to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or excessive moisture.
Troubleshooting
No Power
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the camera and a working power outlet.
- Verify the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi
- Confirm your Wi-Fi router is operating on a 2.4 GHz frequency (802.11 b, g, or n).
- Ensure the camera is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
- Double-check the Wi-Fi password entered in the mobile application.
- Restart your Wi-Fi router and the camera, then attempt to reconnect.
Poor Video Quality or Lag
- Ensure your internet connection meets the minimum requirement of 1.0 Mbps download bandwidth per camera.
- Reduce the distance between the camera and the Wi-Fi router, or eliminate obstructions.
- Check for other devices consuming significant bandwidth on your network.
Motion Detection Not Working
- Verify that motion detection is enabled in the camera's settings within the mobile application.
- Adjust the motion sensitivity settings if necessary.
- Ensure the camera is not in sleep mode.
