1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your SW-MOTECH ION Tail Bag. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure proper function and safety. The SW-MOTECH ION Tail Bag is designed for motorcycle use, offering expandable storage capacity for day trips and short rides.

2. Package Contents

Verify that all the following items are included in your package:

• SW-MOTECH ION Tail Bag (7-15L)
• Waterproof inner lining
• Adhesive protective foil
• Tail bag strap set (2x 37 cm long, 2x 70 cm long, 20 mm wide)

3. Setup and Installation

The SW-MOTECH ION Tail Bag can be securely attached to most motorcycle tails, seats, or racks using the provided strap system. Ensure the bag is stable and does not interfere with motorcycle operation or rider movement before each ride.

3.1 Attachment Methods

There are two primary methods for attaching the tail bag:

1. 4-Point Attachment with Loop Straps:
   • Locate the four riveted D-rings on the tail bag.
   • Thread the longer loop straps (2x 70 cm) through the D-rings and around a secure part of your motorcycle's tail section or rack.
   • Tighten the straps evenly to secure the bag. Ensure there is no slack.
2. Hook-and-Loop Closure Straps for Seat/Rack:
   • Identify the two integrated flaps with hook-and-loop closure and the slot on the underside of the bag.
   • Position the bag on the seat or rack.
   • Pass the hook-and-loop straps under the seat or rack and secure them tightly.
   • Use the shorter loop straps (2x 37 cm) if additional securing points are available on your motorcycle.

Important: Apply the adhesive protective foil to areas of your motorcycle that may come into contact with the bag or straps to prevent scratches.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Volume Expansion

The tail bag's capacity can be expanded from 7 liters to 15 liters. Locate the expansion zipper running along the perimeter of the bag. Unzip this section to increase the bag's volume. Zip it back up to reduce the volume.

4.2 Accessing Compartments

• Main Compartment: The large main compartment is accessed via the primary zipper on the top of the bag. This zipper is lockable for added security (lock not included).
• Outer Pocket: A smaller outer pocket provides quick access to frequently used items.
• Mesh Compartment: An internal mesh compartment is located inside the lid of the main compartment, suitable for organizing smaller items.

4.3 Using the Waterproof Inner Bag

For items requiring protection from moisture, place them inside the provided waterproof inner lining before stowing them in the main compartment of the tail bag.

4.4 Carrying Handle

The integrated web handle allows for convenient carrying of the tail bag when dismounted from the motorcycle.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the tail bag with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Allow the bag to air dry completely before storage.

5.2 Storage

Store the tail bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure the bag is clean and dry to prevent mold or mildew growth.

6. Troubleshooting

• Bag feels loose after installation: Re-check all attachment straps. Ensure they are threaded correctly and tightened securely. The cinch straps on the bag can also be adjusted to compress the contents and provide a more stable fit.
• Water inside the bag: While the bag features a water-resistant interior coating, it is not fully waterproof without the inner lining. Always use the provided waterproof inner bag for sensitive items during wet conditions. Check zippers for full closure.
• Zippers are stiff: Apply a small amount of zipper lubricant or silicone spray to the zipper teeth to improve movement.
