4. Setup

Proper setup is crucial for safe and effective welding. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the machine.

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  • Carefully remove the welder and all accessories from the packaging.
  • Inspect for any shipping damage. If damage is found, contact your supplier immediately.
  • Verify all accessories are present: 200A earth clamp with cable, 200A electrode holder with cable, and 1 adapter cord.

4.2 Connecting Welding Cables

  1. Earth Clamp Connection: Insert the connector of the earth clamp cable into the negative (-) terminal on the front panel of the welder. Twist clockwise to secure.
  2. Electrode Holder Connection: Insert the connector of the electrode holder cable into the positive (+) terminal on the front panel of the welder. Twist clockwise to secure.
  3. Ensure both connections are tight to prevent overheating and poor performance.

4.3 Power Connection

  1. Ensure the welder's power switch is in the "OFF" position.
  2. Connect the welder's power cord to a suitable power outlet (110V or 220V). Use the provided adapter cord if necessary for your specific outlet type.
  3. Verify the power source matches the welder's input voltage requirements. The machine automatically detects the input voltage.

5. Operating Instructions

Before operating, ensure you are wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including a welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.

5.1 Powering On and Current Adjustment

  1. Turn the power switch on the rear of the machine to the "ON" position. The digital display on the front panel will illuminate.
  2. Use the control knob on the front panel to adjust the welding current (Amperage). The digital display will show the selected current.
  3. Refer to your electrode manufacturer's recommendations for appropriate current settings based on electrode type and material thickness.

5.2 Welding Procedure (MMA/Stick Welding)

  1. Prepare Workpiece: Clean the workpiece thoroughly to remove rust, paint, oil, or other contaminants.
  2. Attach Earth Clamp: Securely attach the earth clamp to the workpiece or a metal workbench that is in direct contact with the workpiece. Ensure good electrical contact.
  3. Insert Electrode: Insert the welding electrode into the electrode holder.
  4. Strike an Arc: Gently tap or scratch the electrode against the workpiece to initiate an arc. Once the arc is established, maintain a consistent arc length and travel speed.
  5. Weld: Move the electrode along the joint, maintaining the arc and depositing weld metal.
  6. Terminate Weld: Break the arc by quickly pulling the electrode away from the workpiece.
  7. Inspect Weld: Allow the weld to cool, then chip away slag (if using flux-cored electrodes) and inspect the weld for quality.

Note: Practice on scrap material before attempting critical welds.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your welding machine.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the internal components of the welder using dry compressed air. Ensure the machine is unplugged and completely de-energized before opening the casing.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect welding cables, electrode holder, and earth clamp for damage, fraying, or loose connections. Replace damaged components immediately.
  • Ventilation: Keep the ventilation openings clear of dust and debris to ensure proper cooling.
  • Storage: Store the welder in a dry, clean environment, away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
