4. Setup (Installation)
Follow these steps carefully for optimal performance. Ensure the vehicle's power is off and the battery is disconnected before starting.
4.1. Preparing the Installation Surface
- Choose a clean, flat area on the inside of your vehicle's windshield for the film antennas. Refer to your car navigation system's manual for recommended placement.
- Use the provided cleaner sheet to thoroughly clean the chosen areas on the windshield. Ensure there is no dust, grease, or moisture. Allow the surface to dry completely.
4.2. Installing the Film Antennas
- Carefully peel off the protective backing from one film antenna. Avoid touching the adhesive surface.
- Align the film antenna precisely on the cleaned windshield surface. Ensure the 'A' and 'B' markings on the antenna match the corresponding cable connections.
- Smoothly apply the antenna from one end to the other, pressing firmly to remove any air bubbles.
- Repeat for the remaining three film antennas, ensuring correct left/right and A/B placement as per your navigation system's requirements.

4.3. Connecting the Antenna Cables
- Connect the appropriate antenna cables to the corresponding film antennas (A to A, B to B). Ensure a secure connection.
- Route the antenna cables neatly along the vehicle's interior, tucking them under trim panels to avoid obstruction and damage.
- Connect the other end of the antenna cables to the digital TV antenna input ports on your Panasonic Strada CN-R500WD1 navigation unit. These connectors are typically VR1 type.

4.4. Installing the GPS Metal Sheet
- Identify the location of your existing GPS antenna (if applicable) or the recommended placement for a new GPS antenna near your navigation unit.
- Clean the surface where the GPS metal sheet will be placed.
- Peel off the protective backing from the GPS metal sheet and adhere it to a flat, non-metallic surface, ideally directly beneath or very close to your GPS antenna. This sheet helps to stabilize and improve the GPS signal reception.
5. Operating Instructions
Once the installation is complete and the vehicle's battery is reconnected:
- Digital TV Reception: Turn on your Panasonic Strada CN-R500WD1 navigation system and select the digital TV function. The newly installed film antennas will provide enhanced reception for terrestrial digital broadcasts. Perform an auto-scan for channels if necessary.
- GPS Positioning: The GPS metal sheet works in conjunction with your GPS antenna to improve the accuracy and stability of your navigation system's positioning. Ensure your GPS antenna is properly connected to the navigation unit.
6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your antenna set:
- Cleaning: Keep the film antennas on the windshield clean. Use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe them. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive force.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically check the antenna cables for any signs of wear, kinks, or damage. Ensure all connections remain secure.
- Avoid Damage: Do not attempt to peel off or reposition the film antennas once installed, as this can damage them and reduce adhesive effectiveness.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
7.1. Poor Digital TV Reception
- Check Connections: Ensure all antenna cables are securely connected to both the film antennas and the navigation unit.
- Antenna Placement: Verify that the film antennas are correctly positioned on the windshield, away from metallic obstructions or tinting that might block signals.
- Signal Strength: Digital TV reception can vary by location. Try moving the vehicle to an area with known good signal coverage.
- Navigation Settings: Consult your Panasonic Strada CN-R500WD1 manual to ensure TV reception settings are correctly configured.
7.2. Inaccurate or Unstable GPS Positioning
- GPS Antenna Connection: Ensure your GPS antenna (not included in this set) is properly connected to the navigation unit.
- GPS Metal Sheet Placement: Verify the GPS metal sheet is correctly adhered beneath or near your GPS antenna to provide optimal signal enhancement.
- Obstructions: Ensure the GPS antenna itself has a clear view of the sky and is not obstructed by metallic objects or tinted windows.
- Navigation Settings: Check your navigation system's GPS settings for any diagnostic information.
