3. Setup
3.1 Charging the Headphones
Before initial use, fully charge the ML 80 headphones. Connect the provided charging cable to the charging port on the headphones and the other end to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The charging indicator light will typically show red while charging and turn off or change color when fully charged.
3.2 Bluetooth Pairing
- Ensure the headphones are turned off.
- Press and hold the power button on the headphones until the indicator light begins to flash rapidly (often blue/red alternating), indicating pairing mode.
- On your Minelab Equinox metal detector (or other Bluetooth-enabled device), navigate to the Bluetooth settings.
- Select "ML 80" from the list of available devices.
- Once connected, the indicator light on the headphones will typically turn solid blue or flash slowly.
3.3 Wired Connection
For a wired connection, use the included 1/8" (3.5mm) aux cable. Plug one end into the 3.5mm headphone socket on your metal detector and the other end into the corresponding port on the ML 80 headphones. The headphones will automatically switch to wired mode when the cable is connected.

- To Power On: Press and hold the power button for approximately 3 seconds until the indicator light illuminates.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the power button for approximately 3-5 seconds until the indicator light turns off.
4.2 Volume Control
Use the volume up (+) and volume down (-) buttons located on the earcup to adjust the audio level to your preference. You may also need to adjust the volume directly on your connected metal detector or device.
4.3 Using with Metal Detector
When connected wirelessly via Bluetooth, the ML 80 headphones utilize apt-X Low Latency technology to minimize audio delay, providing a near real-time response from your metal detector. This is crucial for accurately pinpointing targets. Ensure your metal detector's Bluetooth is enabled and properly paired with the headphones for optimal performance.
