Operating Controls

The Bass Mono Synth features several controls to shape your sound:

  • DRY Knob: Controls the output volume of your original, unprocessed bass signal.
  • VOL Knob: Controls the overall output volume of the synthesized sound.
  • SYNTH Knob: Controls the output volume of the synthesized sound.
  • SENS Knob (Sensitivity): Adjusts the pedal's response to your playing dynamics. Higher settings increase sensitivity, allowing the synth to trigger more easily from lighter playing.
  • CTRL Knob (Control): Modifies a specific parameter unique to the currently selected synth type. This allows for additional sound shaping.
  • TYPE Knob: Selects one of the 11 available monophonic synth sounds. Rotate this knob to cycle through the different synth types.

  • SPECTRE
  • OBLIVION
  • LASER
  • X-FADE

  • BYPASS Footswitch: Toggles the effect on and off. When the effect is active, the LED illuminates.
  • PRESET Footswitch: Allows you to save and recall a user preset for each of the 11 synth types.

Saving and Recalling Presets

For each of the 11 synth types, you can save one custom preset. To save a preset:

  1. Select your desired synth type using the TYPE knob.
  2. Adjust the DRY, VOL, SYNTH, SENS, and CTRL knobs to your preferred settings.
  3. Press and hold the PRESET footswitch until the LED flashes, indicating the preset has been saved.

To recall a preset, simply select the desired synth type with the TYPE knob, and the pedal will automatically load the last saved preset for that type.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the pedal in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Power: Always use the specified EHX 9.6VDC-200mA AC adapter or a compatible 9V power supply. Disconnect power when not in use for extended periods.

Troubleshooting

  • No Sound: Ensure all cables are securely connected (instrument to INPUT, SYNTH OUTPUT to amplifier). Verify the power adapter is functioning and properly connected. Check the BYPASS footswitch to ensure the effect is engaged.
  • Weak or Distorted Synth Sound: Adjust the SENS knob to match your playing dynamics. If playing lightly, increase SENS. Ensure the SYNTH and VOL knobs are set appropriately.
  • Synth Not Tracking Notes: The Bass Mono Synth is designed for monophonic input. Ensure you are playing single notes clearly. Adjusting the SENS knob can also improve tracking.
  • Unexpected Sound: Check the TYPE knob to ensure the desired synth sound is selected. Experiment with the CTRL knob as its function varies per synth type.
