Model: Torpedo CAB M

1. Introduction

The Two Notes Torpedo C.A.B. M+ is a versatile speaker simulator pedal designed for guitarists and bassists. It provides high-quality cabinet simulation, microphone placement options, and power amp simulation, allowing musicians to achieve studio-grade tones without traditional speaker cabinets. This device is ideal for silent practice, direct recording, and live performance setups where a physical cabinet is not practical or desired. The C.A.B. M+ also features a clean preamp and reverb capabilities, expanding its utility as a complete tone solution.

2. Setup

Proper setup ensures optimal performance and sound quality from your Torpedo C.A.B. M+.

2.1. Power Connection

Connect the included 12VDC/200mA power supply to the 'POWER' input on the rear of the unit. Ensure the power supply matches the specified voltage and current requirements.

2.2. Audio Connections

The Torpedo C.A.B. M+ offers various input and output options for different setups:

  • GTR / AMP IN: This input accepts signals from your guitar, pedalboard, or the speaker output of an amplifier. If connecting from an amplifier's speaker output, ensure a speaker cabinet is always connected to the amplifier's speaker output to prevent damage to the amplifier.
  • SPEAKER OUT: If using the 'GTR / AMP IN' from an amplifier's speaker output, connect your speaker cabinet to this output. This acts as a pass-through for your amplifier's signal to the cabinet while the C.A.B. M+ processes a parallel signal.
  • IN LEVEL Switch: Adjust this switch (-24dB AMP, 0dB, +12dB GTR) to match the input signal level. Use -24dB AMP for amplifier speaker outputs, 0dB for line-level signals, and +12dB GTR for direct guitar/bass signals.
  • LINE OUT: A 1/4-inch unbalanced output for connecting to an audio interface, mixer, or other line-level devices.
  • DI OUT: A balanced XLR output for direct connection to a mixer or audio interface, providing a clean, low-noise signal. Use the 'GND LIFT' switch to eliminate ground hum if present.
  • AUX IN: A 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo input for connecting external audio sources like a smartphone or music player for practice.
  • Headphone Output: A 1/8-inch (3.5mm) stereo output for silent practice with headphones.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Torpedo C.A.B. M+, refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Sound Output:
    • Check all cable connections (input, output, power).
    • Ensure the 'IN LEVEL' switch is set correctly for your input source.
    • Verify that the volume knob on the unit is turned up.
    • If using an amplifier's speaker output, confirm a physical speaker cabinet is connected to the amplifier's speaker output.
  • Excessive Noise/Hum:
    • Use the 'GND LIFT' switch on the DI OUT to eliminate ground loops.
    • Ensure proper gain staging throughout your signal chain. High input levels or excessive gain settings on the C.A.B. M+ or subsequent devices can introduce noise.
    • Test with a different power supply if possible, ensuring it meets specifications.
  • Unit Not Responding:
    • Disconnect and reconnect the power supply.
    • If connected to a computer, try restarting the Torpedo Wall of Sound software and reconnecting the USB cable.
  • Preset Switching Delay:

It is normal for there to be a noticeable delay when switching between presets. This is due to the processing required to load new cabinet and effect models. Plan your live use accordingly, typically by selecting a single preferred preset for a song or section.
