2. Safety Information

4. Setup

  1. Initial Charging:

    Before first use, fully charge the MGT-P detector. Connect the provided charger to the device's charging port. The battery indicator on the LCD will show charging status. A full charge for the MGT-P (CAT. Comb sensor) typically takes approximately 24 hours for initial charge, and less for subsequent charges.

  2. Powering On/Off:

    To power on, press and hold the power button until the display illuminates and the device performs a self-test. To power off, press and hold the power button until the countdown completes and the device shuts down.

  3. Initial Calibration/Bump Test:

    It is crucial to perform an initial calibration or bump test to verify sensor functionality and accuracy. This can be done manually or using a SENKO docking station. Refer to the "Maintenance" section for detailed calibration procedures.

  4. Attach Belt Clip:

    Securely attach the provided belt clip to the back of the device for convenient carrying during operation.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Real-time Gas Monitoring:

    Once powered on, the LCD display will show the real-time concentrations of O2, CO, H2S, and combustible gases. Ensure the readings are stable and within expected safe levels before entering any potentially hazardous area.

  2. Understanding Alarms:

    The MGT-P is equipped with three types of alarms:

    • Visual: Bright flashing LEDs.
    • Audible: A loud 95 dB buzzer.
    • Vibrator: A tactile vibration.

    When gas concentrations exceed pre-set alarm thresholds, all three alarms will activate simultaneously. Immediately follow your company's safety procedures upon alarm activation.

  3. Event Logging:

    The device automatically logs up to 30 events, including alarm events, calibration records, and bump test data. This data can be downloaded via a SENKO docking station or IR Link for analysis and compliance reporting.

  4. Using the Sampling Pump (if applicable):

    If your MGT-P model includes a sampling pump, attach the sampling hose to the designated port. The pump allows for remote sampling of gas from confined spaces or hard-to-reach areas. Ensure the hose is clear and unobstructed during sampling.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential for the accurate and reliable operation of your MGT-P detector.

  • Daily/Pre-use Bump Test:

    Perform a daily bump test before each use to confirm that sensors respond correctly to target gases and that alarms are functional. This can be done manually with a known concentration of gas or using a SENKO docking station.

  • Regular Calibration:

    Calibrate the device regularly, typically every six months, or as required by local regulations and company policy. Calibration ensures the accuracy of gas readings. Use certified calibration gas mixtures for this procedure.

  • Battery Charging:

    Recharge the device's battery as needed. The battery life for the MGT-P (CAT. Comb sensor) is approximately 24 hours of continuous operation. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan.

  • Cleaning:

    Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure gas inlet ports are clear of dust and debris.

  • Storage:

    When not in use, store the MGT-P in a clean, dry environment within the specified temperature range.
