3. Compatibility
This accessory kit is specifically designed for use with the HORL 2 and HORL 2 Pro knife sharpening systems. It is not compatible with the HORL 2 Cruise model.
4. Setup
Before beginning the sharpening process, ensure your HORL 2 or HORL 2 Pro sharpener is placed on a stable, flat surface. The corundum whetstones are interchangeable discs that can be easily unscrewed and replaced on your HORL sharpener. Ensure the correct grit is selected for the desired sharpening stage.

5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to achieve optimal sharpness using your HORL Knife Sharpener Accessories. These whetstones can be used without water.
5.1. Initial Grinding (with standard diamond disc)
Begin by using the standard diamond grinding disc of your HORL 2 or HORL 2 Pro sharpener to establish the primary edge angle. Ensure the knife is securely held in the magnetic angle support.
5.2. Refining with #3000 Grit Corundum Whetstone
Replace the standard grinding disc with the #3000 grit corundum whetstone. Roll the sharpener along the knife edge, applying light, consistent pressure. This step refines the edge and prepares it for finer polishing.
5.3. Extra-Fine Finishing with #6000 Grit Corundum Whetstone
Next, switch to the #6000 grit corundum whetstone. Continue rolling the sharpener along the knife edge. This ultra-fine grit will create an exceptionally smooth and sharp cutting bevel.

5.4. Stropping with the Leather Strop
For the ultimate edge, finish by stropping your knife on the leather strop. Place the knife flat on the strop with the edge facing away from you. Draw the knife backward along the strop, then flip the knife and repeat on the other side. This removes any remaining burr and polishes the edge to a razor-sharp finish.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning Corundum Whetstones
To clean the corundum whetstones, you can gently rub them together. Alternatively, a fine sandpaper can be used to remove accumulated metal particles and refresh the abrasive surface.
Important: Do not use water on the corundum whetstones. This includes rinsing or using a damp towel for cleaning, as it can cause them to become porous and potentially fracture.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1. Stone Cracking or Damage
If a corundum whetstone cracks or shows signs of damage, it is often due to improper use, particularly exposure to water. As stated in the maintenance section, these stones are designed for dry use. Continued use of a damaged stone may result in suboptimal sharpening or further damage to the knife edge. Replace damaged stones promptly.
