Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Casio PX-S1000BK Digital Piano:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the digital piano and all accessories from the packaging. Ensure all components are present: digital piano unit, AC adaptor, music stand, and damper pedal.
- Placement: Place the piano on a sturdy, flat surface that can support its weight (approximately 24.7 pounds). Ensure there is adequate space around the instrument for ventilation and comfortable playing.
- Attach Music Stand: Insert the music stand into the slots located on the top rear of the piano.
- Connect Damper Pedal: Plug the included damper pedal into the DAMPER PEDAL jack on the rear panel of the piano.
- Connect Power: Connect the AC adaptor to the DC 12V jack on the rear panel of the piano. Plug the other end of the AC adaptor into a standard wall outlet.
- Battery Installation (Optional): For portable use, the PX-S1000BK can operate on 6 AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the underside of the piano and insert the batteries, observing correct polarity.

Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
Press the POWER button located on the control panel to turn the piano on. The touch sensor controls will illuminate. Press and hold the POWER button again to turn the piano off. The illuminated controls will fade away.
Adjusting Volume
Use the VOLUME knob on the control panel to adjust the overall output volume of the piano. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
Selecting Tones
The PX-S1000BK features 18 built-in tones. To select a tone:
- Press the FUNCTION button.
- Use the + and - buttons or specific keys (as indicated in the tone list in the full manual) to navigate and select the desired tone.
- Press FUNCTION again or wait a few seconds for the selection to be confirmed.
Note: The primary piano tone is selected by default upon power-on.
Using the Damper Pedal
The included damper pedal allows for sustain effects, similar to an acoustic piano. Press the pedal down to sustain notes, and release to stop the sustain.
Connecting Headphones
For private practice, connect standard stereo headphones to the PHONES jack on the rear panel. Connecting headphones will mute the internal speakers.
Maintenance and Care

- Cleaning the Cabinet: Wipe the piano's surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, dampen the cloth slightly with water and a mild, neutral detergent, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid using benzene, alcohol, or paint thinner, as these can damage the finish.
- Cleaning the Keyboard: Wipe the keys with a soft cloth dampened with a weak solution of water and neutral detergent. Wipe dry immediately.
- Storage: If storing the piano for an extended period, disconnect the AC adaptor and remove any batteries. Store in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
- Avoid Vibrations: Do not place the piano near sources of strong vibration or shock.
