2.2 Installation Steps

Note: Professional installation is recommended. For OEM monitor systems ('MyGig headunit'), dealer reprogramming may be required to unlock the factory radio (specific 'Sales Codes' may be needed).

  1. Mount the Camera Bracket: Secure the camera bracket to the spare tire mount. Ensure it is positioned for optimal viewing. The bracket is designed for a 12 o'clock wheel opening.

  3. Route the Camera Wire: Carefully route the camera wire from the camera along the top of the spare tire mount. Guide the wire down and through the side, then fish it through the tailgate into the vehicle's interior.
  4. Connect Power: Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) wires from the camera's power cable to the appropriate Jeep taillight wires. The red pigtail on the video cable should connect to the reverse wire coming off the 'MyGig headunit' if applicable.
  5. Connect Video Cable: Use the provided RCA video adapter for aftermarket monitors. If using an OEM 'MyGig headunit', connect the OEM monitor adapter.
  6. Enable OEM Monitor (if applicable): If connecting to an OEM 'MyGig headunit', the system may require reprogramming by a dealer to recognize the new camera. Alternatively, some users have successfully used an OBD scanner with specific software (e.g., Jscan app) to enable the camera feature.

    • Ensure the monitor is set to the correct input source for the camera.
    • If using an OEM 'MyGig headunit', confirm that the radio has been reprogrammed to recognize the camera.
  • Unclear or Distorted Image:
    • Clean the camera lens to remove any dirt or debris.
    • Check for any kinks or damage in the video extension cable.
    • Ensure the cable is not routed too tightly or near sources of electrical interference.
