3. Setup
Your Olde Midway Popcorn Machine requires minor assembly before first use. Follow these steps to set up your machine:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the 'Included Components' section are present and undamaged.

- Connect Power: Plug the machine's power cord into a standard US 120-volt electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to make delicious popcorn:
- Pre-heat Kettle: Ensure the kettle is clean and dry. Close the machine's door. Switch on the WARM (spotlight warmer) and KETTLE (pot heater) switches located on the top of the machine. Allow the kettle to heat for 3-4 minutes.
- Add Ingredients: Once the kettle is hot, carefully add 1 tablespoon of popcorn oil (or preferred popping oil) per 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels. Then, add up to 1 cup of popcorn kernels to the kettle.
- Start Popping: Turn on the STIRRER switch. The stirrer will rotate to ensure even heating of the kernels.
- Monitor Popping: Popcorn will begin to pop and fall into the warming deck below. Keep the machine door closed during popping to maintain heat and prevent popcorn from escaping.
- Finish Popping: Once the popping sound significantly slows down (typically 95% of kernels have popped), turn off the STIRRER and KETTLE switches.
- Empty Kettle: Carefully use the kettle arm to dump any remaining popcorn from the kettle into the warming deck. Be cautious as the kettle is still hot.
- Serve: The warming deck and heat light will keep the popcorn warm and fresh. Use the included popcorn scoop to serve.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your popcorn machine.
- Always unplug the machine and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Kettle Cleaning: The kettle can be removed for cleaning. Wipe the non-stick interior with a damp cloth. For stubborn residue, a mild detergent can be used, but ensure it is thoroughly rinsed. Do not immerse the kettle in water.
- Glass Panels: Wipe the tempered safety glass panels with a soft, damp cloth. For streaks or grease, use a glass cleaner suitable for food-contact surfaces.
- Warming Deck and Base: The stainless steel warming deck and base can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. The machine features a reject kernel tray (drawer) at the bottom, which can be pulled out and emptied of un-popped kernels and debris.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could damage the finish.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your popcorn machine, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Machine does not turn on. | Not plugged in; power switch off; circuit breaker tripped. | Ensure machine is securely plugged in. Check that the power switches are in the 'ON' position. Check your household circuit breaker. |
| Kettle not heating. | Kettle switch off; kettle not properly connected. | Ensure the KETTLE switch is on. Verify the kettle's power cord is securely plugged into its receptacle. |
| Many un-popped kernels. | Kettle not hot enough; insufficient oil; old/dry kernels. | Allow kettle to pre-heat for the recommended 3-4 minutes. Ensure correct oil-to-kernel ratio. Use fresh, high-quality popcorn kernels. |
| Popcorn tastes burnt. | Kettle left on too long after popping; too much oil. | Turn off KETTLE and STIRRER switches immediately after popping slows. Adjust oil quantity. |
