1. Introduction

4. Setup & Installation

4.1 Preparing the Clock Case/Dial

• Ensure your clock dial has a mounting diameter of 120 mm for proper fitment.
• The maximum compatible dial thickness is 9 mm.

4.2 Mounting the Movement

1. Insert the movement shaft through the center hole of your clock dial.
2. Secure the movement to the dial using the provided central screw and rubber washers. Ensure it is firmly but not overly tightened to avoid damage.
3. Attach the speaker to the side of the movement unit using its clip-on bracket. Ensure the speaker cable is securely connected to the movement.
4. If your clock requires a hanging device, utilize the integrated hanging device on the speaker bracket.

4.3 Attaching Clock Hands

The movement is compatible with clock hands up to 120 mm and a sweep second hand up to 80 mm.

1. Carefully press the hour hand onto the hour shaft.
2. Next, press the minute hand onto the minute shaft.
3. Finally, attach the sweep second hand (if applicable) onto its designated shaft. Use the hand nut if necessary to secure the hands.
4. Ensure all hands are parallel to the dial and do not touch each other or the dial surface.

4.4 Battery Installation

• Open the battery compartment on the back of the movement.
• Insert one or two 1.5V AA batteries (depending on the specific model's requirement, check the compartment markings) ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
• Close the battery compartment securely.

5. Operation

5.1 Setting the Time

To set the time, gently turn the minute hand clockwise using the setting knob on the back of the movement until the correct time is displayed. Do not turn the hour hand directly.

5.2 Chime Selection

The Hermle 2214 movement offers two chime melodies:

• Westminster 4/4: This melody plays a partial chime every quarter hour, building up to the full Westminster chime on the hour, followed by the hour strike count.
• Bim Bam: This melody plays a single "Bim Bam" on the half-hour and then strikes the hour count on the full hour.

Use the selector switch on the movement to choose your preferred chime melody.

5.3 Volume Adjustment & Night Mode

The chime volume can be adjusted using the volume control switch, typically offering settings for 100%, 50%, or 0% (off). The movement also features a night volume reduction option, which automatically lowers the chime volume during nighttime hours. Refer to the markings on the movement for specific switch positions.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

When the clock begins to lose time, the pendulum stops, or the chime becomes weak or stops, it is time to replace the batteries. Replace all batteries at the same time with new 1.5V AA alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.

6.2 Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the movement and speaker with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the components.
