4. Setup and First Use
Before using your air fryer for the first time, follow these steps:
- Unpacking: Remove all packaging materials and stickers from the appliance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a damp cloth. Wash the frying basket and basket insert with hot water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
- Placement: Place the air fryer on a stable, heat-resistant, and level surface, away from walls or other appliances to allow for proper air circulation. Ensure there is at least 10 cm of free space on the back and sides, and 10 cm above the appliance.
- Pre-heating (Optional but Recommended): For the first use, it is recommended to run the air fryer empty for about 10 minutes at 180°C to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor may be present; this is normal. Ensure good ventilation.
5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to operate your Severin FR 2460 Air Fryer:
- Prepare Food: Place the food you wish to cook into the frying basket. Do not overfill the basket; ensure there is enough space for air to circulate. For best results with certain foods (e.g., homemade fries), a small amount of oil can be tossed with the food before placing it in the basket.
- Insert Basket: Slide the frying basket back into the appliance until it clicks securely into place.
- Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded wall outlet.
- Set Temperature: Turn the temperature control dial to your desired cooking temperature (80-200°C).
- Set Timer: Turn the timer dial to the required cooking time (up to 60 minutes). The appliance will start operating, and the power indicator light will illuminate.
- Cooking Process: During cooking, you may need to shake the basket halfway through for even cooking, especially for smaller items like fries. To do this, carefully pull out the basket by its handle, shake the contents, and then slide it back in. The appliance will pause when the basket is removed and resume when it's reinserted.
- Completion: When the timer reaches zero, an acoustic signal will sound, and the appliance will automatically switch off.
- Remove Food: Carefully pull out the frying basket. Use heat-resistant tongs to remove the cooked food from the basket. Avoid tipping the basket directly to prevent any residual oil from dripping onto the food.
- Switch Off: Unplug the appliance from the wall outlet after use.
Cooking Tips:
- Smaller ingredients usually require a slightly shorter cooking time than larger ingredients.
- A larger amount of ingredients only requires a slightly longer cooking time.
- Shaking smaller ingredients halfway through the cooking time optimizes the end result and can help prevent unevenly fried ingredients.
- For crispy results, some foods benefit from a light coating of oil.
- You can also use the air fryer to reheat food. Set the temperature to 150°C for approximately 10 minutes.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your air fryer.
- Before Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
- Frying Basket and Insert: The frying basket and its insert have a ceramic non-stick coating and are easy to clean. Wash them with hot water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. For stubborn residue, soak them in hot water with dish soap for about 10 minutes. Do not use metal utensils or abrasive cleaning materials, as this can damage the non-stick coating. Note: The basket and insert are not dishwasher safe.
- Appliance Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the air fryer with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners.
- Interior: Clean the interior of the appliance with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a soft brush to remove any food residues from the heating element.
- Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing the appliance. Store it in a cool, dry place.
