5. Safety Information

  • Electrical Hazard: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician or a person with a thorough understanding of electrical wiring.
  • Power Off: Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before installing, removing, or servicing the switch.
  • Wiring: This switch requires both a live wire and a neutral wire for operation. Ensure your electrical box has both.
  • Motor Compatibility: This switch is designed for 4-wire motorized curtains/blinds/shutters (Brown-Open, Blue-Common, Black-Close, Yellow&Green-Ground). It is not compatible with 2-wire motors.
  • Indoor Use Only: Do not install this device in outdoor environments or areas exposed to direct water.

6. Installation

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the power to the switch location and turn it off. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove your existing curtain switch from the wall box.
  3. Identify Wires: Identify the Live (L), Neutral (N), Open (L1), Close (L2), and Ground wires. This switch requires a neutral wire.
  4. Connect Wires: Connect the wires to the LoraTap WiFi Curtain Switch according to the wiring diagram below. Ensure all connections are secure.
  5. Mount Switch: Gently push the switch into the wall box and secure it with screws. Attach the glass panel.
  6. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

7. Wiring Diagram

The LoraTap WiFi Curtain Switch requires a 4-wire motor connection. Refer to the diagram below for correct wiring:

  • Input L: Live Wire (from mains power)
  • Input N: Neutral Wire (from mains power)
  • Output N: Neutral Wire (to motor)
  • Output L1: Open Wire (to motor, typically Brown)
  • Output L2: Close Wire (to motor, typically Black)
  • Ground: Ground Wire (to motor, typically Yellow & Green)

Important: Ensure your motor has 4 wires (Open, Common, Close, Ground). The common wire from the motor connects to Output N on the switch.

8. App Setup (Smart Life App)

  1. Download App: Download the "Smart Life" app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Register/Login: Open the app and register a new account or log in with an existing one.
  3. Wi-Fi Requirement: Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. This switch does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If you have a dual-band router, you may need to separate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands in your router settings.
  4. Add Device: In the Smart Life app, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device.
  5. Select Device Type: Choose "Curtain Switch" or "Wall Switch (Wi-Fi)" from the list of device types.
  6. Pairing Mode: Follow the in-app instructions to put the switch into pairing mode. This usually involves pressing and holding a button on the switch until an indicator light flashes rapidly.
  7. Connect: Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network password in the app and proceed with the connection.
  8. Rename Device: Once connected, you can rename the switch for easier identification (e.g., "Living Room Curtains").

9. Voice Control Integration

The LoraTap WiFi Smart Curtain Switch can be integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control.

9.1. Amazon Alexa Integration

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app.
  2. Go to "Skills & Games".
  3. Search for "Smart Life" and enable the skill.
  4. Link your Smart Life account with your Alexa account.
  5. Discover devices. Alexa will find your LoraTap Curtain Switch.
  6. You can now use voice commands like: "Alexa, open [Curtain Name]", "Alexa, close [Curtain Name]".

9.2. Google Home Integration

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap "+" then "Set up device" > "Works with Google".
  3. Search for "Smart Life" and link your Smart Life account.
  4. Assign your LoraTap Curtain Switch to a room.
  5. You can now use voice commands like: "Hey Google, open [Curtain Name]", "Hey Google, close [Curtain Name]".

10. Operation

10.1. Touch Panel Control

  • Up Arrow: Touch to open the curtains.
  • Square (Pause): Touch to pause the curtains at their current position.
  • Down Arrow: Touch to close the curtains.

10.2. App Control

  • Open the "Smart Life" app.
  • Select your LoraTap Curtain Switch.
  • Use the virtual buttons to open, close, or pause your curtains.
  • Set schedules or timers for automated operation.

11. Maintenance

  • Switch Not Responding:

  • Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
    • Confirm your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
    • Ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz network during setup.
    • Check Wi-Fi signal strength at the switch location.
    • Restart your router and try pairing again.
    • Ensure the switch is in pairing mode (indicator light flashing rapidly).
  • Voice Control Not Working:
    • Verify the Smart Life skill/service is enabled and linked in your Alexa/Google Home app.

  • Curtains Move in Wrong Direction:
    • In the Smart Life app, check if there's an option to reverse motor direction.
    • Alternatively, swap the L1 (Open) and L2 (Close) wires at the switch (after turning off power).
