Setup

Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment on the side or bottom of the rangefinder.
2. Open the battery cover by twisting or sliding it according to the indicator.
3. Insert the included Lithium battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery cover securely until it clicks into place.

Powering On/Off

• To power on the device, press the Power button (usually marked with a power symbol or 'ON').
• The device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Operating Instructions

Range Mode

The Range Mode provides direct distance measurements to various targets. The AOFAR GX-2S offers a range of 5-600 yards for reflective targets, 5-415 yards for trees, and 5-285 yards for flags, with an accuracy of ±0.5 yards.

• Look through the eyepiece and aim the reticle at your desired target.
• Press the Power button once to activate the laser and display the distance.
• The device features 6X magnification for clear viewing of distant targets.

Flag Lock with Vibration (Scan Mode)

This mode is ideal for quickly and accurately locking onto the flagstick, even with background objects. The device provides a vibration feedback when the flag is successfully locked.

• While looking through the eyepiece, press and hold the Power button.
• Slowly scan from a point beyond the flag towards the flagstick.
• The rangefinder will identify the closest target (the flag) and vibrate, displaying its distance. A scan sign will appear in the upper right corner of the display.

Slope Switch Function

The slope function calculates the adjusted distance based on elevation changes, providing a more accurate 'play as' distance. For golf tournaments, this function can be easily turned off.

• To toggle the slope function on or off, press and hold the 'M' (Mode) button for approximately 5 seconds.
• The display will indicate whether the slope function is currently active or deactivated.

Maintenance

Cleaning

• Lenses: Use a soft, clean cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. Gently wipe away dust or smudges. Avoid using abrasive materials or excessive force.
• Body: Wipe the rubberized body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.

Storage

• Store the rangefinder in its protective case when not in use.
• Keep the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• If storing for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.

Water Resistance

The AOFAR GX-2S is designed to be waterproof with an IPX4 rating, meaning it is resistant to splashing water from any direction. While it can withstand light rain, it should not be submerged in water.

Troubleshooting

• No Display/Power: Check if the battery is correctly installed and fully charged. Replace the battery if necessary.
• Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the target is within the effective range of the device. Make sure the lens is clean and free from obstructions. Avoid aiming at highly reflective surfaces that might cause false readings.
• Flag Lock Not Working: Ensure you are scanning slowly from beyond the flag towards it. Make sure there are no strong obstructions directly in front of the flag.
• Vibration Not Working: Check battery level. If the battery is low, the vibration function might be affected.
