4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the main unit.
2. Insert four (4) AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2. Connecting the Cuff

1. Locate the air tube connector on the blood pressure cuff.
2. Insert the air tube connector firmly into the 'CUFF' port on the side of the main unit until it clicks into place.

4.3. Setting Date and Time

To ensure accurate record-keeping, set the correct date and time:

1. With the device off, press and hold the 'S' (Set) button until the year starts flashing.
2. Use the 'M' (Memory) button to adjust the year.
3. Press the 'S' button again to confirm the year and move to the month setting.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for month, day, hour, and minute.
5. Once all settings are confirmed, the device will exit setup mode.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Applying the Arm Cuff

Proper cuff placement is crucial for accurate readings:

1. Sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor, and your arm resting on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
2. Ensure your arm is bare or has only thin clothing.
3. Wrap the cuff around your upper arm, approximately 0.8 to 1.2 inches (2-3 cm) above your elbow. The red line on the edge of the cuff should be positioned over your main arteries on the inside of your arm.
4. Tighten the cuff so it is snug but not uncomfortably tight.

5.2. Taking a Measurement

1. After applying the cuff, press the Power button (center button) to start the measurement.
2. The cuff will automatically inflate. Remain still and do not talk during the measurement.
3. Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your systolic pressure (SYS), diastolic pressure (DIA), and pulse rate will be displayed on the screen.
4. If an irregular heartbeat is detected, the IRB symbol will appear on the display.

5.3. Smart Averaging Mode (AVG)

The Smart Averaging Mode provides a more accurate and reliable result by averaging three consecutive measurements:

1. To activate AVG mode, press the 'AVG' button (often combined with 'S' or a dedicated button).
2. The monitor will automatically take three measurements with a short interval (e.g., 20 seconds) between each.
3. After the third measurement, the average of the three readings will be displayed.

5.4. Recalling Memory Readings

The device stores up to 60 measurements. To view past readings:

1. With the device off, press the 'M' (Memory) button.
2. The most recent reading will be displayed first.
3. Press the 'M' button repeatedly to scroll through older readings.

5.5. Understanding Your Blood Pressure Reading

6.1. Cleaning

• Clean the monitor and cuff with a soft, dry cloth.
• If necessary, use a cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild detergent, then wipe dry.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners, thinners, or benzene.
• Do not immerse the monitor or cuff in water.

6.2. Storage

• Store the device in its protective case when not in use.
• Keep the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
• Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your FORA P30 Plus, refer to the following common solutions:

• Device does not power on: Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the right polarity. Replace batteries if they are depleted.
• Cuff does not inflate or inflates incorrectly: Ensure the cuff's air tube is securely connected to the monitor's 'CUFF' port. Check for any kinks or leaks in the air tube. Ensure the cuff is correctly wrapped around the arm.
• Inaccurate readings: Ensure the cuff is correctly positioned and tightened. Avoid talking or moving during measurement. Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement. Ensure the arm is at heart level.
• Irregular Heartbeat (IRB) symbol appears frequently: This indicates an irregular heartbeat was detected. While the device can detect this, it is not a diagnostic tool. Consult your doctor if this symbol appears frequently.
