Maintenance

General Care

  • Keep the docking station clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not drop or subject the device to strong impacts.

Safe Drive Removal

Always safely eject or unmount your hard drives from your operating system before physically removing them from the docking station or powering off the device. This prevents data corruption and ensures drive longevity.

Troubleshooting

Drive Not Detected

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the docking station is powered on (red LED illuminated).
  • Verify the USB 3.0 cable is firmly connected to both the docking station and your computer.
  • Check if the hard drive is correctly seated in its slot (blue LED illuminated).
  • For IDE drives, ensure the adjustable connector is properly aligned.
  • If it's a new drive, it might need to be initialized and formatted through your operating system's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS).
  • Try connecting the docking station to a different USB port on your computer or a different computer to rule out port or system issues.
  • Test with a different hard drive if available.

Slow Data Transfer Speed

  • Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. USB 2.0 ports will result in significantly slower speeds.
  • Verify the USB 3.0 cable is not damaged.
  • The actual transfer speed can be affected by the hard drive's speed, file size, and your computer's performance.

OTB Function Not Working

  • Confirm that the OTB software is correctly installed and configured on your computer.
  • Remember that OTB software is not supported on macOS or iOS systems.
  • Ensure the hard drive is properly detected and accessible by the system.
