1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation and maintenance of your new RPM 80245 heavy-duty front and 80595 heavy-duty rear blue suspension A-arms. These A-arms are designed to enhance the durability and performance of your compatible Traxxas 1/10 scale 2wd vehicles.

2. Compatibility

These RPM A-arms are designed to fit the following Traxxas 1/10 scale 2wd vehicles:

  • Traxxas Slash 2wd
  • Traxxas Slash 2wd OBA
  • Traxxas Slash Dakar
  • Traxxas Slash 2wd LCG
  • Traxxas XL-5 Raptor

They are direct replacements for stock Traxxas part numbers 2555 (front) and 3631 (rear).

3. Installation and Setup

Before beginning installation, ensure your vehicle is powered off and the battery is disconnected. It is recommended to have basic tools such as screwdrivers, hex wrenches, and pliers available.

3.1 Front A-Arm Installation (RPM 80245)

  1. Carefully remove the front wheels from your Traxxas vehicle.
  2. Locate and remove the hinge pins that secure the stock front A-arms to the chassis and the steering blocks.
  3. Remove the stock front A-arms, noting the orientation of all components.
  4. Install the new RPM 80245 front A-arms, ensuring they are oriented correctly.
  5. Reinsert the hinge pins, securing the A-arms to the chassis and steering blocks.
  6. Reattach the front wheels.

3.2 Rear A-Arm Installation (RPM 80595)

  1. Carefully remove the rear wheels from your Traxxas vehicle.
  2. Locate and remove the hinge pins that secure the stock rear A-arms to the chassis and the rear axle carriers.
  3. Remove the stock rear A-arms.
  4. Install the new RPM 80595 rear A-arms.
  5. Important Note for 80595 Rear A-arms: Stock rear axle carriers typically have an upper and lower hinge pin hole. RPM Slash rear A-arms are designed to utilize only the original, lower hinge pin hole location. The upper axle carrier hole, which would excessively lower the rear ride height, cannot be used with these A-arms.
  6. To adjust the rear ride height, RPM recommends using the outer shock mount hole positions on the A-arm.
  7. Reinsert the hinge pins, securing the A-arms to the chassis and rear axle carriers.
  8. Reattach the rear wheels.

After installation, perform a quick check to ensure all screws and pins are securely fastened and that the suspension moves freely without binding.

4. Operating Considerations

While A-arms are passive components, their proper function is crucial for vehicle handling. After installing RPM A-arms, observe your vehicle's performance. The increased durability of RPM A-arms allows for more aggressive driving in various terrains. However, always operate your RC vehicle responsibly and within its design limits.

  • Pre-Run Check: Before each use, inspect A-arms for any signs of damage or loose connections.
  • Post-Run Inspection: After use, clean any dirt or debris from the A-arms and surrounding suspension components.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will prolong the life of your RPM A-arms and your RC vehicle's suspension system.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the A-arms to remove dirt, mud, and grime. A soft brush and mild soap with water can be used. Ensure all components are dry before reassembly or storage.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the A-arms for cracks, bends, or excessive wear. While RPM A-arms are highly durable, extreme impacts can still cause damage.
  • Hinge Pins: Check hinge pins for straightness and ensure they are free of corrosion. Lubricate with a dry lubricant if necessary to prevent binding.
  • Screws and Fasteners: Ensure all screws and fasteners connecting the A-arms to other suspension components are tight. Avoid over-tightening, which can strip threads.
