Operating the Lens
Focus Mode Switch (A/M)
The lens features an A/M switch to select between autofocus and manual focus modes.
- A (Autofocus): The camera will automatically focus on the subject. The Stepping Motor (STM) ensures smooth and quiet operation.
- M (Manual Focus): Focus is adjusted manually by rotating the focus ring on the lens.
Zooming
To change the focal length, rotate the zoom ring on the lens. The lens covers a range from 14mm (ultra-wide) to 30mm (wide-angle).
Aperture Control
The lens has a fixed maximum aperture of f/4 across its entire zoom range. Aperture is controlled via the camera body settings.
Attaching Filters
The NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S is designed to accept standard 82mm screw-on filters. Carefully thread the filter onto the front of the lens until secure.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Lens
- Use a blower brush to remove dust and loose particles from the lens surfaces.
- For smudges or fingerprints, use a clean, soft lens cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces. Apply a small amount of lens cleaning solution to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
- Never use abrasive materials, solvents, or harsh chemicals to clean the lens.
Storage
- When not in use, always attach the front and rear lens caps.
- Store the lens in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- For long-term storage, it is recommended to retract the lens using its retractable mechanism.
- If storing for extended periods, consider using a desiccant to prevent mold and mildew.
