4. Setup (Installation)
Installation of the Rulart Double Keyed Deadbolt Lock is designed to be straightforward, typically requiring only a screwdriver. Follow these general steps. Refer to the detailed diagram on the included instruction sheet for visual guidance.
- Prepare the Door: Mark and bore holes in the door according to standard deadbolt installation templates. Ensure the holes are correctly sized for the deadbolt mechanism and cylinder.
- Install the Deadbolt Latch: Insert the adjustable latch into the edge bore hole of the door. Ensure the latch is oriented correctly and secure it with screws. Adjust the backset to either 60mm (2-3/8") or 70mm (2-3/4") as needed for your door.
- Install the Outside Cylinder: Place the outside cylinder through the larger bore hole, ensuring the tailpiece aligns with the latch mechanism.
- Install the Inside Cylinder: Position the inside cylinder, aligning its components with the outside cylinder and the latch mechanism. Secure both cylinders together using the provided mounting screws. Ensure the screws are tightened evenly to prevent misalignment.
- Install the Strike Plate: Attach the strike plate to the door frame, aligning it with the deadbolt latch. Secure it with screws.
- Test Operation: After installation, test the deadbolt with a key from both the interior and exterior to ensure smooth locking and unlocking.
Tip: If the lock rotation feels slightly tight during or after installation, applying a small amount of lubricant to the moving parts can improve smoothness.

6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your Rulart deadbolt lock, consider the following maintenance tips:
- Lubrication: If the lock mechanism becomes stiff or difficult to turn, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant or a silicone-based spray lubricant into the keyway and around the latch bolt. Avoid using oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and debris.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the deadbolt with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Screw Tightness: Periodically check and tighten any loose mounting screws to ensure the deadbolt remains securely fastened to the door.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Rulart Double Keyed Deadbolt Lock, consider the following:
- Difficulty Turning Key:
- Ensure the key is fully inserted into the keyway.
- Apply lubricant as described in the Maintenance section.
- Check if the door is warped or misaligned, causing pressure on the deadbolt.
- Deadbolt Not Extending/Retracting Fully:
- Verify that the strike plate on the door frame is properly aligned with the deadbolt. Adjust if necessary.
- Check for any obstructions in the door frame or around the latch mechanism.
- Ensure all mounting screws are securely tightened.
- Loose Deadbolt:
- Tighten all visible mounting screws on both the interior and exterior cylinders.
