2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury:

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply voltage matches the fixture's requirements. Always disconnect from power before servicing or cleaning.
  • Grounding: This fixture must be properly grounded to prevent electric shock.
  • Outdoor Use: The HYDRO BEAM X1 is IP65 rated for outdoor use. Ensure all connections are securely sealed with their rubber protective covers when used outdoors.
  • Mounting: Always mount the fixture securely using appropriate clamps and safety cables. Ensure the mounting surface can support the fixture's weight.
  • Heat: Allow adequate ventilation around the fixture. Do not operate in enclosed spaces. Maintain a minimum distance of 0.5 meters from flammable materials.
  • Eye Safety: Avoid direct eye exposure to the light source. Never look directly into the beam.

5. Setup

5.1 Mounting

The HYDRO BEAM X1 can be mounted in various positions (truss, floor, wall) using the included Omega brackets. Always ensure the fixture is securely fastened and use a safety cable as a secondary attachment.

  • Attach the Omega brackets to the bottom of the fixture using the quick-lock fasteners.
  • Secure the brackets to a truss or other suitable mounting structure using appropriate clamps (not included).
  • Always attach a safety cable from the fixture to the mounting structure.

5.2 Power Connection

Connect the supplied IP65-rated power cable to the locking power input on the rear of the fixture. Ensure the power source matches the voltage requirements specified on the fixture.

5.3 DMX Connection (Optional)

For DMX control, connect a 5-pin DMX cable from your DMX controller to the DMX IN port of the first fixture. For multiple fixtures, daisy-chain DMX cables from the DMX OUT of one fixture to the DMX IN of the next. Ensure all DMX connections are sealed with their rubber covers.

5.4 Wireless DMX Setup

The HYDRO BEAM X1 features built-in wireless DMX. Refer to the fixture's internal menu for wireless DMX pairing instructions. Typically, this involves setting a common wireless DMX address or group for all fixtures and the transmitter.

6. Operating Instructions

The HYDRO BEAM X1 is controlled via a digital display and four buttons: MENU, UP, DOWN, and ENTER. These buttons allow navigation through the menu options and adjustment of settings.

6.1 Control Panel

  • MENU: Accesses the main menu or returns to the previous menu level.
  • UP/DOWN: Navigates through menu options or adjusts parameter values.
  • ENTER: Confirms a selection or saves a setting.

6.2 DMX Addressing

To control the fixture via DMX, you must set a unique DMX start address for each unit. Use the control panel to navigate to the DMX Address setting and adjust the value. Consult your DMX controller's manual for channel assignments and programming.

6.3 DMX Channel Modes

The HYDRO BEAM X1 offers multiple DMX channel modes (e.g., 14-channel, 16-channel). Select the desired mode via the control panel to match your DMX controller's setup. Each mode provides different levels of control over the fixture's features (Pan, Tilt, Dimmer, Strobe, Color, Gobo, Prism, Frost, Focus, etc.).

6.4 Standalone Operation

The fixture can operate without a DMX controller using its built-in programs:

  • Auto Program Mode: Select from various pre-programmed light shows. Adjust speed and other parameters via the menu.
  • Sound Active Mode: The fixture will react to sound via its internal microphone. Adjust sensitivity as needed.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your HYDRO BEAM X1.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior casing, lenses, and cooling fins with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a mild glass cleaner. Ensure the fixture is powered off and cool before cleaning.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the American DJ website for available firmware updates. Updates can be installed via the USB port on the rear of the fixture. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update package.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect power cables, DMX cables, and mounting hardware for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged components immediately.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the fixture in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in its original packaging or a suitable flight case.
