3. Setup and Installation

This emergency light is designed for hardwired surface mounting. Ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker before installation.

3.1 Initial Activation

Before connecting to the main power source, the internal battery must be connected. The battery is disconnected during shipping to prevent drain.

  1. Carefully remove the front cover plate of the fixture.
  2. Locate the internal battery and its connector. Connect the battery to the circuit board.

3.2 Mounting the Fixture

The fixture is designed for surface mounting. Use the provided mounting hardware.

  2. Connect the electrical wires (live, neutral, ground) from the J-box to the corresponding wires on the fixture using the provided wire nuts. Ensure correct voltage (120V or 277V) is applied.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and connected to a live power source, the emergency light will operate automatically.

4.1 Normal Operation

  • When main AC power is present, the light will remain off, and the internal battery will charge. A red 'READY' indicator light will illuminate to show it is charging or fully charged.
  • In the event of a power failure, the light will automatically switch on, powered by its internal battery, providing emergency illumination for over 90 minutes.
  • When AC power is restored, the light will automatically turn off and resume battery charging.

4.2 Testing the Light

A 'TEST' button is located on the fixture for manual testing.

  • Press and hold the 'TEST' button. The emergency lights should illuminate, indicating the battery and lamps are functional.
  • Release the 'TEST' button. The lights should turn off (if AC power is present).

5. Maintenance
