Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the torque wrench from its protective case.
  2. Initial Inspection: Check the wrench for any visible damage from shipping. Ensure the ratchet head moves freely and the adjustment collar rotates smoothly.
  3. "Activate" Mechanism: Before first use, or after prolonged storage, it is recommended to "activate" the internal mechanism. Set the wrench to a mid-range torque value (e.g., 75 Ft-Lb).     • For fine adjustments, continue rotating the handle until the desired minor increment on the thimble scale aligns with the main scale line. For example, to set 52 Ft-Lb, set to 50 Ft-Lb on the main scale, then rotate the thimble until '2' aligns with the main line.
  3. Lock the Handle: Once the desired torque is set, rotate the locking knob clockwise to secure the adjustment collar. This prevents accidental changes during use.
  4. Attach Socket: Select the appropriate socket for your fastener and attach it firmly to the 1/2-inch drive square on the ratchet head.
  5. Apply Torque:
    • Place the socket onto the fastener.
    • Apply smooth, steady pressure to the handle in a clockwise direction. Do not use jerky motions or sudden force.
    • Continue applying pressure until you hear and feel a distinct "click" from the wrench. This indicates that the preset torque has been reached.
    • Immediately stop applying force once the click is felt/heard. Do not continue to tighten the fastener beyond the click.
  6. Release Pressure: After the click, release pressure on the handle. The wrench is now ready for the next fastener or can be stored.

Important Note: The LEXIVON torque wrench measures torque only in the clockwise direction. While the ratchet head is reversible for loosening, do not use it to measure torque in the counter-clockwise direction.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe the wrench clean with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: Always return the torque wrench to its lowest torque setting (10 Ft-Lb / 13.6 Nm) before storing it. This relieves tension on the internal spring, preserving its accuracy over time.
