5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Use the provided screwdriver to loosen the screw on the battery cover.
- Remove the cover.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power On/Off
- Press the ON/OFF button once to power on the device. The LCD screen will illuminate.
- To power off, press and hold the ON/OFF button for approximately 3 seconds. The device also features an automatic shutdown function after a period of inactivity.
6.2 Using the Laser Distance Meter
- Power on the device.
- Point the laser emitter towards the target surface.
- Press the ON/OFF button once to activate the laser.
- Press the ON/OFF button again to take a measurement. The distance will be displayed on the LCD screen.
- The measurement is taken from the rear of the device.

6.3 Using the AutoLock Tape Measure
- Pull the tape blade out to the desired length. The AutoLock mechanism will hold the blade in place.
- To retract the tape, press the red button located on the top of the device. The blade will retract smoothly and controlled.

6.4 Unit Conversion
The device supports multiple units of measurement. While the device is on, press the UNIT button (often the same as ON/OFF button, or a dedicated button if present) to cycle through available units: Feet, Inches, Fractions, Meters, and Millimeters.
6.5 Zero Point Correction Hook
The magnetic hook at the end of the tape measure is designed for accurate measurements. For internal measurements (e.g., inside a window frame), the hook compresses to provide a true zero. For external measurements (e.g., along an edge), the hook extends to provide a true zero.

6.6 Stud Center Markings
The tape measure includes markings for common construction layouts:
- Center stud markings at 16-inch increments for standard stud arrangements on an 8-foot sheet of wood or drywall.
- Black diamond markings at 19-3/16-inch increments for laying out trusses or rafters on an 8-foot sheet.

7. Maintenance
- Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
