Setup

- Driving Map View: Choose between 'Track Up' (map rotates with your direction), 'North Up' (North is always at the top), or '3-D' (three-dimensional perspective).
- Map Detail: Adjust the level of detail shown on the map (More, Normal, Less). Less detail can result in faster map loading.
- Map Layers: Enable or disable various map features such as 3D Buildings, 3D Terrain, Traffic information, Trip Log, and points of interest like National Parks and historical sites (HISTORY®).
- Auto Zoom: Enable or disable automatic map zooming based on your speed and upcoming turns.
Driver Assistance Features
The device provides alerts to enhance driving awareness:
- Driver Alerts: Receive notifications for animal crossings, railroad crossings, school zones, and sharp curves. These alerts appear as icons on the map and may include an audible tone.
- Speeding Alert: Get an audible tone when exceeding the speed limit.
- Reduced Speed Tone: An audible alert when the speed limit decreases.
- Break Planning: For long trips, the device can show upcoming services and suggest breaks after extended periods of driving.
Phone and Connectivity Features
When paired with the Garmin Drive app on your smartphone, the device offers extended functionalities:
- Hands-Free Calling: Make and receive calls directly from your device. Access your phone book, call history, or dial numbers using the on-screen keypad.
- Smart Notifications: Receive notifications from your smartphone directly on the navigator's display.
- Live Traffic and Weather: Get real-time traffic updates and weather information for your current location or along your route. The weather radar feature provides visual data on precipitation.
- Up Ahead: View upcoming points of interest such as gas stations, banks/ATMs, and restaurants along your route.
- Trip Data: Monitor your driving statistics including maximum speed, moving average, overall average, total time, moving time, stopped time, elevation, and GPS accuracy.
