Setup Instructions
- Prepare the Seed Starter Tray: Place the reusable plastic seed starter tray into your compatible AeroGarden Harvest model. Ensure it sits securely over the water reservoir.
- Insert Grow Sponges: Place one biodegradable Grow Sponge into each opening of the seed starter tray.
- Add Seeds: Carefully place your desired seeds into the center of each Grow Sponge. Refer to your seed packet for specific planting depth and quantity recommendations. Generally, 1-3 seeds per sponge are sufficient, depending on seed size and germination rate.
- Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the AeroGarden water reservoir with fresh tap water up to the indicated fill line.
- Add Plant Food: Add the recommended amount of AeroGarden Liquid Plant Nutrients to the water reservoir. Consult the included Seed Starting & Transplanting Guide or the plant food bottle for precise dosing instructions based on your AeroGarden model and plant type.
- Power On: Ensure your AeroGarden Harvest model is plugged in and the grow light is functioning. The system will automatically manage light cycles and remind you when to add water and plant food.

Operating the Seed Starting System
Once set up, your AeroGarden Harvest model will provide the necessary environment for your seeds to germinate and grow. The integrated grow light will operate on an automatic cycle, and the system will alert you when the water level is low or when it's time to add more plant food.
- Germination: Seeds typically germinate within 7-14 days, though this can vary by seed type.
- Early Growth: Allow seedlings to grow in the AeroGarden until they develop a strong root system and several sets of true leaves, usually 2-4 weeks.
- Thinning: If multiple seeds germinate in a single Grow Sponge, thin them to the strongest seedling by carefully snipping the weaker ones at the base with small scissors. This ensures the strongest plant receives adequate nutrients and space.
- Transplanting: When seedlings are ready, gently remove the Grow Sponges from the tray. The new design of the system makes removing and transplanting seedlings easier. Transplant them into soil pots or directly into your outdoor garden, following appropriate hardening-off procedures for outdoor planting.

Maintenance
- Water Levels: Regularly check the water level in your AeroGarden reservoir. Refill with fresh water when the indicator light or display prompts you.
- Nutrient Dosing: Add liquid plant food according to the schedule provided by your AeroGarden unit or the included guide. Consistent nutrient supply is crucial for healthy growth.
- Cleaning the Tray: After transplanting all seedlings, clean the reusable seed starter tray thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Rinse well and allow to dry before storing or reusing.
- Grow Sponge Replacement: The Grow Sponges are biodegradable and designed for single use. Replace them with new ones for each new batch of seeds.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your AeroGarden Seed Starting System, consider the following:
- No Germination: Ensure seeds are fresh and viable. Verify that the Grow Sponges are adequately moist and the AeroGarden is receiving power. Check that the water reservoir has sufficient water and plant food has been added.
- Slow Growth: Confirm that the grow light is functioning correctly and is positioned at the appropriate height above the seedlings. Ensure proper nutrient levels in the water.
- Algae Growth: Minor algae growth is common and generally harmless. If excessive, ensure the Grow Sponges are fully seated in the tray to minimize light exposure to the water. You can gently wipe away visible algae.
