1. Product Overview
The ThermoPro TP16S Digital Meat Thermometer is designed to accurately monitor internal food temperatures during cooking, grilling, smoking, or baking. It features a durable probe with a long cord, a large backlit LCD display, and various convenient functions to ensure perfectly cooked meals.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The ThermoPro TP16S requires one AAA battery for operation. The battery is included with the product. To install or replace the battery:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the thermometer unit.
- Slide open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the AAA battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3.2 Initial Power On
After installing the battery, slide the power switch on the back of the unit to the "ON" position. The LCD display will illuminate, indicating the thermometer is ready for use.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Connecting the Temperature Probe
Insert the stainless steel temperature probe's jack into the port on the side of the main thermometer unit. Ensure the connection is firm.

4.2 Monitoring Temperature
Carefully insert the tip of the temperature probe into the thickest part of the food, avoiding bones or gristle. The current internal temperature of the food will be displayed as "PROBE TEMP" on the large LCD screen.
The thermometer provides accurate readings within ±1.8°F across a wide range of 14°F to 572°F.

4.3 Setting Target Temperature and Alarms
The TP16S offers programmable temperature settings with alerts. You can choose from 6 preset meat types and their associated doneness levels, or set a custom target temperature.
- Press the MEAT/SET button to cycle through preset meat types (e.g., Beef, Pork, Poultry, Ham, Fish) and doneness levels.
- To set a custom temperature, use the ▲HR (Up) and ▼MIN (Down) buttons to adjust the "SET TEMP" value.
- Once the food reaches the set temperature, the thermometer will emit an audible alarm. Press any button to stop the alarm.

4.4 Using the Kitchen Timer
The thermometer includes a built-in 99-hour and 59-minute countdown timer.
- Press the TIMER/ST./SP. button to switch to timer mode.
- Use the ▲HR (Hour) and ▼MIN (Minute) buttons to set the desired countdown time.
- Press TIMER/ST./SP. again to start or pause the timer.
- To clear the timer, press and hold the CLEAR button.

4.5 Backlight Function
The large LCD display features an orange backlight for improved visibility in low-light conditions. Simply touch the light bulb icon button located on the top of the unit to activate the backlight. It will automatically turn off after 10 seconds to conserve battery life.

4.6 Placement Options
The TP16S offers multiple convenient placement options:
- Magnetic Back: The unit has a strong magnet on its back, allowing it to be securely attached to metal surfaces like oven doors or refrigerators.
- Fold-out Stand: A built-in stand allows the thermometer to be placed upright on a countertop or table for easy viewing.
- Hanging Mount: A small hole on the back enables hanging the unit from a hook.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Probe
The stainless steel probe can be wiped clean with a damp cloth after each use. Do not immerse the probe connector or the main thermometer unit in water. The probe is oven safe, but the cable should not be exposed to direct flame or temperatures exceeding 572°F (300°C).
5.2 Battery Replacement
Replace the AAA battery when the display becomes dim or the unit stops functioning correctly. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 3.1.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Display: Check if the battery is installed correctly with proper polarity. Replace the battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate Temperature Reading: Ensure the probe is fully inserted into the thickest part of the food and not touching bone or gristle. Verify the probe is securely connected to the main unit.
- Alarm Not Sounding: Check that the target temperature is set correctly and the unit is not in timer mode.
