Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your hydraulic pump assembly. If you are unsure about any steps, consult a qualified professional.

1. Mounting

Securely mount the hydraulic pump assembly to a stable and level surface. Ensure adequate clearance for maintenance and ventilation. Refer to the product dimensions (16 x 8 x 9 inches) for space planning.

2. Electrical Connections

This unit operates on 12 Volts DC. Connect the pump to a suitable 12V power source, ensuring correct polarity. Use appropriate gauge wiring for the current draw. The included corded remote connects to the designated terminals on the pump unit.

Hydraulic pump schematic and wiring diagram

Figure 6: Detailed schematic diagram of the hydraulic pump system, including hydraulic flow paths, electrical wiring connections, and component identification. This diagram is essential for correct installation and troubleshooting.

Important: Always disconnect power before making any electrical connections. Consult the wiring diagram (Figure 6) for precise connection points.

3. Hydraulic Connections

Connect your hydraulic cylinders or actuators to the appropriate outlet ports on the pump. Ensure all connections are tight and free of leaks. This is a double-acting pump, meaning it provides pressure for both extension and retraction of the cylinder.

4. Reservoir Filling

Fill the 1.5 Gallon reservoir with the recommended hydraulic fluid. Do not overfill. Ensure the breather cap is properly installed after filling. The unit is designed for outside usage.

Operating Instructions

The Bucher Double-Acting Hydraulic Pump Assembly is operated using the included 25-foot corded remote control.

Power Up/Power Down Operation

  1. Ensure all hydraulic and electrical connections are secure and the reservoir is filled to the correct level.
  2. To extend your hydraulic cylinder (power up), press and hold the "UP" button on the remote control. The pump will activate, and the cylinder will extend.
  3. To retract your hydraulic cylinder (power down), press and hold the "DOWN" button on the remote control. The pump will activate, and the cylinder will retract.
  4. Release the button to stop the hydraulic action.

Note: The pump is designed for intermittent duty. Avoid continuous operation for extended periods to prevent overheating.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your hydraulic pump assembly.

1. Hydraulic Fluid Level Check

Periodically check the hydraulic fluid level in the 1.5 Gallon reservoir. Top up with the recommended hydraulic fluid if necessary. Low fluid levels can cause pump damage and poor performance.

2. Fluid Replacement

Replace the hydraulic fluid according to the manufacturer's recommendations or if it appears discolored or contaminated. Proper disposal of used hydraulic fluid is essential.

3. Electrical Connections Inspection

Regularly inspect all electrical connections for corrosion, looseness, or damage. Ensure all terminals are clean and secure.

4. General Cleaning

Keep the exterior of the pump assembly clean and free from dirt, debris, and excessive moisture. This helps prevent corrosion and ensures proper heat dissipation.
