6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your SURFboard mAX Pro W133 system.
6.1 No Internet Connection
- Check Modem: Ensure your internet modem is powered on and has an active internet connection.
- Cable Connections: Verify that the Ethernet cable between the primary SURFboard mAX unit and your modem is securely connected.
- Restart Devices: Power cycle your modem, then your primary SURFboard mAX unit, and finally any satellite units. Wait a few minutes for each device to fully restart.
6.2 Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Dead Zones
- Unit Placement: Adjust the placement of your satellite units. Try to position them centrally between the primary unit and areas with weak signals. Avoid placing them near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronics.
- Interference: Move the units away from devices that emit radio frequency interference, such as microwaves, cordless phones, or Bluetooth devices.
- App Optimization: Use the SURFboard Central app to check signal strength and optimize network performance.
6.3 Devices Not Connecting to Wi-Fi 6
The SURFboard mAX system automatically manages band steering for optimal performance. If a device is not connecting to Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), ensure the device itself supports Wi-Fi 6. The system prioritizes connection stability and speed, which may sometimes result in a device connecting to a different band or protocol if it determines that provides a better experience at that moment.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your SURFboard mAX Pro W133 system.
7.1 Firmware Updates
The SURFboard Central app will notify you of available firmware updates. It is recommended to install these updates to ensure your system has the latest features, security patches, and performance improvements. Updates are typically performed automatically or with a few taps in the app.
7.2 Cleaning
Keep the units clean and free of dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked.
7.3 Restarting the System
Periodically restarting your entire mesh system (modem first, then primary unit, then satellites) can help resolve minor network issues and improve performance.
