Troubleshooting
No Internet Connection:
- Check Cables: Ensure all coaxial, Ethernet, and power cables are securely connected.
- Power Cycle Modem: Disconnect the power adapter from the modem, wait 10-15 seconds, then reconnect it. Allow the modem to fully restart (this may take several minutes).
- Check LED Status: Refer to the "Operating" section to interpret the LED indicators. If the "Online" LED is flashing or off, the modem is not connected to your ISP's network.
- Contact ISP: If the issue persists after checking connections and power cycling, contact your Internet Service Provider. They can verify your service status and modem registration.
Slow Speeds or Intermittent Connection:
- Test Directly: Connect a computer directly to one of the modem's Ethernet ports (bypassing your router) to determine if the issue is with the modem or your router.
- Check for Interference: If using Wi-Fi (via a separate router), ensure your router is placed optimally and not experiencing interference.
- ISP Service Check: Your ISP can perform diagnostics on your line to identify any signal issues that might be affecting your speed.
Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your ARRIS SB8200-RB modem:
- Keep Ventilated: Place the modem in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to prevent overheating.
- Clean Regularly: Gently wipe the exterior of the modem with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Firmware Updates: Firmware updates are typically managed by your Internet Service Provider. Ensure your modem is connected and powered on to receive these updates automatically.
