1. Introduction

4. Setup

Follow these steps to assemble your IKRA IEVL 1840 before its first use.

4.1 Handle Assembly

  1. Attach the lower handle bars to the main unit using the provided fasteners.
  2. Connect the upper handle bar (with the control switch) to the lower bars. Ensure all cables are securely routed and fastened with the cable clips to prevent damage and ensure proper strain relief.

  4. Verify that the cable strain relief is correctly installed to prevent the extension cord from accidentally disconnecting during operation.

4.2 Roller Installation

The IKRA IEVL 1840 comes with two interchangeable rollers. Choose the appropriate roller for your task (scarifying or aerating).

  1. Ensure the machine is unplugged from the power supply.
  2. Tilt the machine onto its side to access the underside.
  3. Locate the roller locking mechanism. Release the current roller by disengaging the lock and sliding it out.

  5. Insert the desired roller (scarifying or aerating) into the housing, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

4.3 Collection Bag Attachment

  1. Assemble the collection bag frame and attach the fabric bag to it.
  2. Lift the rear flap of the scarifier/aerator.
  3. Hook the collection bag onto the designated points under the flap. Ensure it is securely attached to prevent debris from escaping.

5. Operating Instructions

Proper operation ensures effective lawn care and extends the life of your machine.

5.1 Adjusting Working Depth

The working depth can be centrally adjusted using the lever on the side of the machine. The depth ranges from +6 mm (for transport/storage) to -12 mm (deep scarification). For aeration, a shallower depth is usually sufficient, while scarification requires deeper penetration to remove thatch effectively.

5.2 Starting and Stopping

  1. Connect the machine to a suitable power outlet using a properly rated extension cord. Ensure the cable is secured with the strain relief.
  2. To start, press and hold the safety button on the handle, then pull the bail switch towards the handle. Release the safety button once the motor starts.

  4. To stop the machine, release the bail switch. The motor will stop, and the rollers will cease rotation after a short delay.

5.3 Scarifying and Aerating

For best results, scarify your lawn in spring and autumn. Aeration can be done more frequently as needed.
