  • Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical codes.
  • Always disconnect power to the heating/cooling system at the main circuit breaker before installing or servicing the thermostat.
  • Do not expose the thermostat to water or excessive humidity.
  • Use only AA alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.

4. Installation (Setup)

4.1. Mounting Location

Choose an indoor wall location approximately 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the floor, away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat sources (e.g., radiators, televisions) that could affect temperature readings.

4.2. Battery Installation

  1. Open the front cover of the thermostat.
  2. Insert two (2) AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  3. The thermostat will power on, and the display will activate. The batteries provide approximately 1 year of autonomy. The device includes a power reserve to maintain programmed settings during battery replacement.

4.3. Electrical Connection

WARNING: Disconnect power at the main circuit breaker before proceeding.

  1. Remove the thermostat's backplate from the main unit.
  2. Connect the system wires to the appropriate terminals on the backplate. The contact rating is 8(5)A at 250Vac. Refer to your heating/cooling system's wiring diagram for specific connections.
  3. Secure the backplate to the wall using screws.
  4. Attach the main thermostat unit to the backplate, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
  5. Restore power at the main circuit breaker.

5. Operation

5.1. Setting Current Time and Day

Upon initial power-up or after a prolonged power loss, you may need to set the current time and day. Consult the specific instructions in your thermostat's full manual for the exact button sequence. Generally, this involves pressing a 'SET' or 'CLOCK' button, using '+' and '-' buttons to adjust values, and 'OK' or 'SET' to confirm.

5.2. Selecting Operating Mode (Heating/Cooling)

The thermostat supports both heating and cooling functions. Use the mode selection button (often indicated by a snowflake for cooling and a flame for heating, or a simple 'MODE' button) to switch between modes. The current mode will be displayed on the LCD.

5.3. Adjusting Temperature

In manual mode, use the '+' and '-' buttons to set your desired temperature. The thermostat will maintain the room temperature within the range of +5°C to +35°C with a thermal differential of +/- 0.3°C.

6. Programming

The CR025BI allows for daily or weekly programming, enabling you to set different temperatures for various times of the day and days of the week. The minimum programming interval is 30 minutes.

6.1. Entering Programming Mode

Press the 'PROG' or 'P' button to enter programming mode. The display will typically show a day of the week and a time slot for adjustment.

6.2. Setting Programs

  1. Use the 'DAY' button to select the day or group of days you wish to program (e.g., Monday-Friday, Saturday-Sunday, or individual days).
  2. Use the 'TIME' or arrow buttons to navigate through the 30-minute time intervals.
  3. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the desired temperature for each time interval.
  4. Repeat for all desired time slots and days.
  5. Press 'OK' or 'PROG' again to exit programming mode and save your settings.

Refer to the detailed programming section in your full user manual for advanced programming options and specific button functions.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the two AA alkaline batteries promptly. The thermostat has a power reserve feature that will retain your programmed settings for a short period during battery replacement.

  1. Open the front cover.
  2. Remove the old batteries.
  3. Insert two new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the front cover.

7.2. Cleaning

Clean the thermostat's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or spray directly onto the unit.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Display is blank: Check if batteries are correctly inserted or need replacement.
  • System not responding: Ensure the thermostat is in the correct operating mode (heating/cooling). Check the main power supply to your heating/cooling system. Verify wiring connections.
  • Incorrect temperature reading: Ensure the thermostat is not exposed to direct sunlight, drafts, or heat sources.
  • Programming issues: Re-enter programming mode and verify all settings. Ensure the current time and day are set correctly.

If problems persist, consult a qualified technician or contact TECNOSWITCH customer support.
