2. Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, please observe the following precautions:

  • Power Source: Only use the specified power adapter or batteries. Ensure the voltage matches the requirements of the device.
  • Water and Moisture: Do not expose the radio to rain, moisture, or immerse it in water. Avoid placing objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on or near the device.
  • Ventilation: Do not block any ventilation openings. Ensure adequate space around the device for proper airflow.
  • Heat: Keep the radio away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

  • LCD Display: Shows frequency, time, and function indicators.
  • SOURCE Button: Selects between FM, MW, and AUX input modes.
  • SNOOZE Button: Temporarily silences the alarm.
  • TUNING/SET Dial: Rotates to tune radio frequencies or adjust settings. Press to confirm.
  • VOLUME +/– Dial: Rotates to adjust the audio output level.

5. Setup

5.1 Power Connection

Your MUSE M-091 R radio can be powered by either AC mains or batteries.

AC Power

  1. Ensure the radio is switched off.
  2. Connect the detachable AC power cord to the AC power input on the radio.
  3. Plug the other end of the power cord into a standard 230V 50Hz wall outlet.

Battery Installation

For portable use, install batteries (not supplied).

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the rear of the unit.
  2. Insert four (4) 1.5V Type D/R20/UM1 batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: If the unit is disconnected from both AC power and batteries, all settings (time, presets) will be lost.

5.2 Antenna Adjustment

For optimal FM reception, extend the swiveling FM antenna fully and adjust its position until you achieve clear sound. For MW reception, the radio uses a built-in ferrite bar antenna, so no external adjustment is needed; simply rotate the entire unit for best reception.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Turning On/Off

Press the Power button to turn the radio on or off.

6.2 Selecting Source (FM/MW/AUX)

Press the SOURCE button repeatedly to cycle through the available modes: FM, MW, and AUX.

6.3 Radio Tuning (FM/MW)

The radio features a PLL tuner with 20 storable stations (10 FM, 10 MW).

Automatic Tuning

  1. Select FM or MW mode using the SOURCE button.
  2. Press and hold the TUNING/SET dial for a few seconds. The radio will automatically scan and stop at the next strong station.

Manual Tuning

  1. Select FM or MW mode.
  2. Rotate the TUNING/SET dial slowly to manually adjust the frequency.

6.4 Storing and Recalling Presets

Storing a Station

  1. Tune to your desired station using automatic or manual tuning.
  2. Press and hold one of the Preset Buttons (1-10) until the display confirms the station has been saved to that preset number.

Recalling a Station

Press the corresponding Preset Button (1-10) briefly to recall a stored station.

6.5 Volume Control

Rotate the VOLUME +/– dial to increase or decrease the audio volume.

6.6 Clock and Alarm Functions

The radio includes time, alarm, and sleep functions.

Setting the Clock

Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual for specific steps on setting the time. Generally, this involves pressing and holding a 'Time Set' or 'SET' button, then using the TUNING dial to adjust hours and minutes, and pressing SET to confirm.

Setting the Alarm

The alarm can be set to wake you with either a buzzer or the radio. Consult the full user manual for precise alarm setting procedures. This typically involves pressing an 'Alarm' button, setting the alarm time, and choosing the alarm source.

Sleep Timer Function

The sleep timer allows the radio to play for a set duration before automatically turning off. Activate this function by pressing the 'Sleep' button and selecting the desired duration (e.g., 120, 90, 60, 30, 15, 10, or 5 minutes).

6.7 Auxiliary Input (AUX)

Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the Auxiliary Input (3.5mm) jack using a 3.5mm audio cable. Select AUX mode using the SOURCE button. Audio from the external device will play through the radio's speakers.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

To clean the radio, first disconnect it from all power sources. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.

7.2 Battery Care

  • Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
