Figure 1: Internal view of the Seco-Larm Enforcer 12VDC Switching CCTV Power Supply (Model PC-U0910-PULQ) with the cover open. The image displays the main power supply unit at the bottom right, connected to a red power distribution board with multiple output terminals and individual PTC fuses. Wiring connects the components, and a label with technical information is visible on the inside of the door.
5.1 Mounting the Unit
- Select a suitable indoor location that is dry, well-ventilated, and protected from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
- Using appropriate fasteners (not included), securely mount the heavy-duty steel case to a wall or other stable surface. Ensure the mounting surface can support the weight of the unit and connected cables.
5.2 Wiring the Power Supply
- Input Power: Connect the provided 3.3-foot (1m) power cord to the AC input terminals of the power supply unit. Ensure the input voltage is within the universal 90-120 VAC range.
- Output Connections:
- Identify the nine output terminals on the power distribution board. Each output is clearly marked.
- Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) wires from your CCTV devices to the corresponding terminals on the power distribution board.
- Ensure proper polarity to avoid damage to your devices.
- Voltage Adjustment: Before connecting devices, use a small screwdriver to adjust the voltage for each output individually. The adjustable range is 11.0-13.8 VDC. Use a multimeter to verify the desired output voltage for each connected device.
- Secure Wiring: Ensure all wire connections are tight and secure to prevent intermittent power or short circuits.
5.3 Initial Power-Up
- Once all connections are made and verified, connect the power cord to a suitable electrical outlet.
- Observe the LED indicators on the cover. A green LED indicates AC input power, and red LEDs indicate DC output power for each channel.
- Confirm that all connected CCTV devices are receiving power and operating correctly.
6. Operation
The Seco-Larm Enforcer Power Supply operates automatically once connected to power and devices. Key operational aspects include:
- Power Indicators:
- A Green LED on the cover indicates that the unit is receiving AC input power.
- Individual Red LEDs on the Power Distribution Module (PDM) indicate that DC output power is being supplied to each respective channel. If a red LED is off for a particular channel, it may indicate a fault or a tripped PTC fuse for that output.
- Output Voltage Adjustment: The output voltage for each channel can be fine-tuned between 11.0-13.8 VDC using the adjustment potentiometers located near each output terminal. This allows for compensation of voltage drop over long cable runs or to meet specific device requirements.
- PTC Fuses: Each output is protected by a self-resetting PTC fuse. In case of an overload or short circuit on an output, the fuse will trip, cutting power to that specific channel. Once the fault is cleared, the PTC fuse will automatically reset, restoring power.
7. Maintenance
The Seco-Larm Enforcer Power Supply is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris.
- Connection Checks: Annually, or as needed, inspect all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
- Environmental Check: Confirm that the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges.
- PTC Fuse Reset: If an output LED is off, indicating a tripped PTC fuse, disconnect the device from that output, identify and resolve the cause of the overload or short circuit, and then reconnect the device. The PTC fuse should reset automatically.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power to any device, Green AC LED is OFF. | No AC input power. | Check the power cord connection to the outlet and the unit. Verify the electrical outlet is functional. |
| No power to a specific device, its Red DC LED is OFF. | Overload or short circuit on that output channel; PTC fuse tripped. | Disconnect the device from the affected output. Inspect the device and wiring for faults. Once the fault is cleared, reconnect the device. The PTC fuse should reset automatically. |
| Output voltage is incorrect. | Voltage adjustment setting is incorrect. | Using a multimeter, carefully adjust the individual output voltage potentiometer to the desired 11.0-13.8 VDC range. |
| Unit is overheating. | Poor ventilation; excessive load. | Ensure ventilation openings are clear. Reduce the total load if it exceeds the 10A capacity. Relocate the unit to a cooler, better-ventilated area. |
