2. Tuning

The guitar may require tuning after shipping. Use an electronic tuner to tune the strings to standard EADGBe (low to high). The tuning machines are located on the headstock.

  • E (6th string, thickest)
  • A (5th string)
  • D (4th string)
  • G (3rd string)
  • B (2nd string)
  • e (1st string, thinnest)

3. Connecting to an Amplifier

Connect one end of a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable to the output jack on the lower bout of the guitar body. Connect the other end to the input jack of your guitar amplifier. Ensure your amplifier is powered on and its volume is set to a low level before playing.

Operating

1. Controls Overview

The JS22 DKA features the following controls:

  • Volume Knob: Controls the overall output volume of the guitar. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
  • Tone Knob: Adjusts the treble response. Turn clockwise for brighter tones, counter-clockwise for warmer, darker tones.
  • 3-Way Blade Pickup Selector Switch: Selects which pickup(s) are active.
    • Position 1 (Bridge): Activates the bridge humbucking pickup for a brighter, more aggressive tone.
    • Position 2 (Middle): Activates both bridge and neck humbucking pickups for a balanced tone.
    • Position 3 (Neck): Activates the neck humbucking pickup for a warmer, smoother tone.

2. Tremolo System

The guitar is equipped with a tremolo bridge system. The tremolo arm can be inserted into the bridge to allow for pitch modulation effects. Use the tremolo arm gently to avoid excessive string tension changes that can affect tuning stability.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

  • Body and Neck: Wipe down the body and back of the neck with a soft, lint-free cloth after each use to remove sweat and fingerprints. For satin finishes, use a damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Fretboard: Periodically clean the fretboard to remove grime buildup. Use a specialized fretboard cleaner and conditioner for amaranth wood.
  • Hardware: Wipe metal hardware (bridge, tuners, pickups) with a dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners directly on electronic components.

2. String Replacement

Strings should be replaced regularly, depending on playing frequency and string type. Old strings can lose their tone and intonation. When replacing strings, change them one at a time to maintain neck tension. The recommended string gauge is Nickel Plated Steel (.009-.042 Gauges).

3. Storage

Store the guitar in a stable environment, away from extreme temperature changes and humidity fluctuations. A guitar case or gig bag is recommended for protection.
