1. Introduction

The HUAWEI M-Pen Stylus is designed to enhance your interaction with the HUAWEI Mate 20 X device. Featuring 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, it provides a natural and precise writing and drawing experience, mimicking the feel of a traditional pen on paper. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your M-Pen.

3. Setup

3.1 Installing the Battery

The HUAWEI M-Pen requires one AAAA battery (not included). To install the battery:

1. Gently twist and pull the top cap of the M-Pen to open the battery compartment.
2. Insert one AAAA battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals are correctly aligned.
3. Replace the top cap, twisting it gently until it is securely closed.

3.2 Pairing with HUAWEI Mate 20 X

The M-Pen should be automatically recognized by your HUAWEI Mate 20 X. If the pen is not recognized, follow these steps:

1. On your HUAWEI Mate 20 X, navigate to Settings.
2. Use the search function within Settings and type "pen".
3. Locate and enable the M-Pen or stylus option.
4. The M-Pen should now be connected and ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Writing and Drawing

Hold the M-Pen as you would a regular pen. The 4096 pressure levels allow for varying line thickness and opacity based on how firmly you press the tip against the screen. Use compatible applications for note-taking, sketching, and other creative tasks.

4.2 Using the Smart Button

The smart button on the side of the M-Pen provides quick access to various functions, which may vary depending on the application and device settings. Common functions include:

• Single Press: May activate an eraser, selection tool, or context menu.
• Double Press: May take a screenshot or switch between tools.
• Refer to your HUAWEI Mate 20 X's settings or specific application instructions for customizable button functions.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Replacing Pen Tips

The M-Pen comes with two spare tips. If the pen tip becomes worn or damaged, replace it as follows:

1. Use the included tip removal tool (if provided) or a pair of tweezers to gently pull out the old pen tip.
2. Insert a new pen tip firmly into the M-Pen until it clicks into place.

5.2 Charging the M-Pen

The M-Pen charges quickly. A full charge can be achieved in approximately 15 minutes. A minuscule LED indicator on the pen will show the charging status.

5.3 Cleaning

To clean your M-Pen, gently wipe it with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Pen Not Responding or Recognized

If your M-Pen is not automatically recognized or stops responding:

• Ensure the AAAA battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
• Go to your HUAWEI Mate 20 X's Settings, search for "pen", and ensure the M-Pen or stylus function is enabled.
• Restart your HUAWEI Mate 20 X device.

6.2 Inaccurate Input

If the pen input is inaccurate or inconsistent:

• Check if the pen tip is securely installed and not worn out. Replace if needed.
• Ensure your device screen is clean and free from smudges or debris.
• Avoid using the pen near strong magnetic fields.
