WOOSTAR 36V 500W Motorcycle Speed Controller Instruction Manual

Model: YL-A92-CO

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the WOOSTAR 36V 500W Speed Controller (Model YL-A92-CO). This controller is designed for DC brushed motors in electric scooters, E-bikes, bicycles, and tricycles. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Information and Precautions

Adhering to these safety guidelines is crucial to prevent damage to the controller and connected equipment, and to ensure user safety.

  • Correct Wiring Polarity: When wiring, it is strictly forbidden to connect the positive and negative terminals incorrectly. The red wire must be connected to the positive electrode, and the black wire to the negative electrode. Incorrect polarity can cause severe damage to the controller and battery.
  • Waterproofing: During installation, ensure the controller is protected from water and moisture. Exposure to water can lead to short circuits and malfunction.
  • Wire Integrity: Do not cut or modify the wires unless explicitly instructed. Improper wire modifications can lead to poor contact, equipment damage, or electrical hazards.
  • Voltage Compatibility: It is strictly forbidden to use over-voltage batteries. Ensure your battery voltage (36V) matches the controller's specifications. Using an incompatible voltage will damage the controller.
  • Professional Installation: If you are unsure about any part of the installation process, seek assistance from a qualified technician.

5.2 Connection Instructions

  1. Motor Connection: Connect the thick yellow wire to the motor's positive terminal and the thick blue wire to the motor's negative terminal.
  2. Battery Connection: Connect the thick red wire to the battery's positive terminal and the thick black wire to the battery's negative terminal. Ensure correct polarity as per safety guidelines.
  3. Throttle Handle Grips: Connect the throttle's red wire to the controller's red 5V+ (thin) wire, the throttle's black wire to the controller's black (thin) wire, and the throttle's blue wire to the controller's blue wire input. The throttle provides a 1-4V signal for speed control.
  4. Brake Connection: Connect the brake's black wire to the controller's thin black wire and the brake's yellow wire to the controller's thin yellow wire (Brake Model).
  5. Charging Port: Connect the charging port wires to the designated charging port connector on the controller.
  6. Brake Light: Connect the brake light wires to the designated brake light connector.
  7. Indicator Light: Connect the indicator light's black wire to the controller's thin black wire and the indicator light's red wire to the controller's thin red wire (Power Output).
  8. Ignition Key Switch: Connect the ignition key switch's blue wire to the controller's thin blue wire and the ignition key switch's red wire to the controller's thin red VVC wire.

After all connections are made, double-check each connection against the diagram to ensure accuracy before powering on the system.

6. Operating Instructions

Once the controller is correctly installed and all connections are secure, you can begin operating your electric vehicle.

  1. Power On: Turn the ignition key switch to the "ON" position. The indicator light should illuminate, confirming power to the controller.
  2. Speed Control: Use the throttle handle grips to control the motor speed. Gently twist the throttle to increase speed. The controller provides sensitive and stable speed control.
  3. Braking: Apply the brakes as needed. The controller is designed to provide sensitive braking control for safety.
