Setup

Unpacking and Inspection:

  1. Carefully unpack the amplifier and retain the packaging materials for future transport or storage.
  2. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. If damage is found, contact your dealer immediately.

Placement and Ventilation:

  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the amplifier. Do not block the ventilation openings.
  • For rack-mounting, ensure proper airflow within the rack. Avoid placing the amplifier directly above heat-generating equipment.
  • Place the amplifier on a stable, level surface if not rack-mounting.

Connections:

Before making any connections, ensure the amplifier is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.

  1. Input Connections: Connect your audio source (mixer, preamplifier, etc.) to the input connectors on the rear panel using high-quality balanced XLR or 1/4" TRS cables. Ensure correct channel assignment (e.g., Left to CH A, Right to CH B).
  2. Output Connections: Connect your loudspeakers to the Speakon output connectors. Ensure the correct impedance matching between the amplifier and your speakers. Refer to the amplifier's specifications and your speaker's specifications for compatible impedance ranges. The NX4-6000 features Smart Sense Loudspeaker Impedance Compensation for optimized performance.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the supplied AC power cord to the power inlet on the rear panel and then to a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the power supply voltage matches the amplifier's requirements (100V as per specifications).

Note: Always use appropriate cables for audio signals and speaker connections to prevent signal loss or damage.

Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off:

  1. Ensure all gain controls on the front panel are set to their minimum position (fully counter-clockwise) before powering on.
  2. Press the Power button on the front panel to turn the amplifier on. The Power LED will illuminate.
  3. When powering off, first reduce all gain controls to minimum, then press the Power button.

Adjusting Gain:

  • Start with the gain controls at their minimum.
  • Play audio through your source at a moderate level.
  • Slowly increase the gain control for each channel until the desired volume is achieved.
  • Monitor the Signal and Protect/Limit LEDs. The Signal LED should flicker with audio presence. If the Protect/Limit LED illuminates frequently or stays on, reduce the gain to prevent clipping and potential damage to speakers or the amplifier.

Operating Modes (Refer to Rear Panel):

The NX4-6000 may feature switches on the rear panel to select different operating modes:

  • Stereo Mode: Each channel operates independently, receiving its own input signal and driving its own speaker.
  • Mono Mode: Combines input signals to a single mono output, typically used for driving multiple speakers with the same signal.
  • Bridge Mode: Combines two channels into a single, more powerful mono output, typically used for driving a single, high-power subwoofer. Consult the manual for specific bridging instructions and minimum impedance requirements.

Caution: Incorrect impedance matching in Bridge mode can severely damage the amplifier and speakers. Always verify speaker impedance before operating in Bridge mode.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

  • Always disconnect the amplifier from the power supply before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior surfaces.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
  • Periodically clean the ventilation grilles to ensure proper airflow and prevent dust buildup. A soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment can be used.

Storage:

  • If storing the amplifier for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry.
  • Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • It is recommended to store the amplifier in its original packaging to protect it from dust and physical damage.
