2.2 Wiring Diagram and Instructions

Proper wiring is essential for safe and correct operation. Refer to the diagram below and follow these steps:

  1. Connect the live supply wire (L) to terminal 2.
  2. Connect the neutral supply wire (N) to terminal 1. These connections power the timer's internal clock.
  3. Run a jumper wire from terminal 2 to terminal 4. This provides the live supply for the automatic switching function.
  4. Connect the switched live wire from terminal 5 to the live input of the appliance you wish to control (e.g., an electric water heater).
  5. Connect the neutral wire from the appliance back to terminal 1.
  6. Grounding: Note that there is no dedicated earth terminal inside the timer. It is recommended to use a small junction box below the timer with connector blocks to properly manage and connect earth wires from your main supply and appliance.

2.3 Important Considerations for Wiring

  • Terminal Screws: If you experience difficulty tightening terminal screws, it may be due to the wire gauge. For 1.5mm wires, try untwisting and flattening the strands slightly before inserting to ensure the screw can fully tighten.
  • Cable Space: The plastic casing has circular cutouts for rear and bottom cable entry. If space is tight, consider feeding only the wires (without the outer sheath) through the cutouts, or use an external junction box for cable management.

2.4 Initial Power-Up

Once wired, apply power. The timer has a built-in backup battery, ensuring that all settings are automatically saved even if the main power is interrupted. This prevents the need for reprogramming after a power cut, with a memory retention of up to 60 days.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Zerodis Digital Time Switch, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the unit periodically with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the display or internal components.
  • Environment: Install the timer in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. The timer is designed to be anti-interference, but proper environmental conditions are still important.
  • Battery: The built-in battery is designed for long-term backup. No user replacement is typically required. If the display becomes dim or settings are not retained for extended periods without power, contact support.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your timer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Timer display is blank or dim.No power supply; internal battery depleted.Check main power connection. Ensure wiring is correct (Live to terminal 2, Neutral to terminal 1). Allow time for internal battery to charge if recently installed.
Programs are not executing.Timer is in manual mode (ON/OFF); incorrect programming; incorrect wiring.Ensure the timer is set to 'AUTO' mode using the manual override button. Re-check programmed schedules for correct times and days. Verify wiring, especially the jumper from terminal 2 to 4 and switched live from terminal 5.
Appliance does not turn ON/OFF.Incorrect appliance wiring; appliance fault; timer not switching.Confirm the appliance is working independently. Check the switched live connection from terminal 5 to the appliance. Ensure the timer is receiving power and is in AUTO mode.
Settings are lost after power cut.Internal backup battery issue. While the battery has 60 days memory, if this occurs frequently, the battery may be failing. Contact customer support.
