CYBEX Eternis S with SensorSafe Convertible Car Seat Instruction Manual

Model: Eternis S | Brand: Cybex

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and proper use, installation, and maintenance of your CYBEX Eternis S with SensorSafe convertible car seat. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the car seat and keep it in a safe place for future reference.

The Eternis S is designed to accommodate children from birth up to 120 pounds, offering rear-facing, forward-facing, and belt-positioning booster modes.

2. Safety Features

The CYBEX Eternis S incorporates advanced safety technologies to protect your child.

2.1 SensorSafe Technology

The integrated SensorSafe chest clip connects to a smartphone app, providing critical alerts for various unsafe situations. These alerts include:

  • Child becoming unbuckled during transit.
  • Rear seat temperature becoming too warm or too cold.
  • Child accidentally left in the vehicle.
  • Child seated in the car seat for an extended period.

2.2 Linear Side Impact Protection (L.S.P.)

The Linear Side Impact Protection (L.S.P.) system is designed to absorb up to 25% more impact forces in certain side-impact collisions compared to the same car seat without the L.S.P. extended. Ensure the L.S.P. is properly extended on the side closest to the vehicle door.

2.3 Patented Reclining Headrest

The Eternis S features a patented reclining headrest that helps prevent your child's head from falling forward while asleep, maintaining an ergonomically correct and safe position for the head and neck. The headrest offers 12 height settings for easy adjustment as your child grows.

  • Position the car seat in the vehicle's back seat.
  • Secure the car seat using either the vehicle's seat belt or the lower anchors (LATCH system).

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and safety of your car seat.

  • Fabric Covers: The fabric covers are designed for easy removal and cleaning. Refer to the care label on the fabric for specific washing instructions. Typically, machine wash cold on a delicate cycle and air dry.
  • Harness Straps: Wipe harness straps with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or submerge harness straps in water, as this can weaken the webbing.
  • Plastic and Metal Parts: Wipe plastic and metal parts with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Buckle: Periodically check the buckle for debris. Clean with a damp cloth if necessary.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CYBEX Eternis S car seat, refer to the following common solutions.

  • SensorSafe App Not Connecting/Alerts: Ensure your smartphone's Bluetooth is enabled and the SensorSafe app is updated to the latest version. Check the SensorSafe chest clip for any obstructions or damage. Refer to the SensorSafe user guide for detailed pairing and troubleshooting.
  • Harness Straps Sticking/Not Adjusting: Check for any twists or obstructions in the harness webbing behind the car seat shell. Ensure the harness adjuster button is fully pressed when attempting to loosen or tighten the straps. Do not force the straps.
  • Car Seat Feels Loose After Installation: Re-read the installation instructions carefully for your chosen mode (rear-facing, forward-facing). Ensure the vehicle's seat belt or LATCH connectors are routed correctly and tightened as much as possible. Apply pressure to the car seat while tightening to remove slack. The car seat should not move more than one inch at the belt path.
