Setup and Installation
Installation of the Moen Magnetix Combo Shower is designed for wall-mounted setups. While general steps are provided, professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with plumbing work.
Before You Begin:
- Ensure the main water supply to your shower is turned off.
- Clear the work area and have necessary tools ready (e.g., adjustable wrench, pipe tape, soft cloth).
- Inspect all components for any damage.
Installation Steps:
- Remove Existing Showerhead: Unscrew your current showerhead from the shower arm. Clean any old sealant or debris from the shower arm threads.
- Apply Pipe Tape: Wrap pipe tape (Teflon tape) clockwise around the threads of the shower arm 3-4 times.
- Install Diverter/Mounting Bracket: Screw the main diverter unit (which holds both showerheads) onto the shower arm. Hand-tighten, then use an adjustable wrench for a final quarter-turn, ensuring it is securely fastened and facing the correct direction. Do not overtighten.
- Attach Fixed Rainshower Head: Screw the larger rainshower head onto the upper outlet of the diverter. Hand-tighten, then use a soft cloth and wrench to gently tighten further.
- Connect Handheld Hose: Attach one end of the 60-inch metal hose to the lower outlet of the diverter and the other end to the handheld shower unit. Ensure washers are in place at both connections. Hand-tighten securely.
- Dock Handheld Shower: The handheld shower features Magnetix technology. Simply bring the handheld unit close to the magnetic dock on the main diverter, and it will securely snap into place.
- Test for Leaks: Turn the main water supply back on slowly. Check all connections for leaks. If leaks occur, tighten connections slightly or reapply pipe tape.
Operation
Your Moen Magnetix Combo Shower offers versatile showering options:
- Fixed Rainshower Only: Use the lever on the main diverter to direct water flow solely to the fixed rainshower head for a wide, drenching spray.
- Handheld Shower Only: Adjust the lever to direct water flow solely to the handheld shower for targeted cleaning or rinsing.
- Combination Flow: Position the lever in the middle to activate both the fixed rainshower and the handheld shower simultaneously for maximum coverage.
Handheld Shower Settings:
The handheld shower features six high-performance spray settings. Rotate the spray face of the handheld unit to cycle through these settings and find your preferred water experience.

Pause/Trickle Button:
The handheld shower is equipped with a convenient pause/trickle button. Press this button to momentarily stop the water flow, conserving water while you lather or shave, without affecting your temperature settings. Press again to resume full flow.
Magnetix Docking System:
The Magnetix system allows for effortless docking and undocking of the handheld shower. The powerful magnetic dock ensures the handheld unit securely returns to its position, even with minimal effort. This feature is particularly useful for users with limited mobility or when showering children or pets.
Maintenance
Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Moen shower system.
Cleaning the Finish:
- Clean the chrome finish regularly with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
Cleaning Nozzles:
The showerheads feature rubber nozzles designed for easy cleaning. Mineral deposits (limescale) can accumulate over time, affecting spray performance.
- Simply rub your finger or a soft brush across the rubber nozzles to dislodge any mineral buildup.
- For stubborn deposits, a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water can be applied. Allow it to soak for a few minutes, then scrub gently and rinse thoroughly.
Troubleshooting
Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Low Water Pressure | Clogged nozzles; partially closed shut-off valve; low household water pressure. | Clean showerhead nozzles (see Maintenance); ensure shut-off valve is fully open; consult a plumber if household pressure is consistently low. |
| Leaking Connections | Loose connections; insufficient pipe tape; damaged washers. | Tighten connections; reapply pipe tape; replace worn washers. |
| Handheld Shower Not Docking Securely | Debris on magnetic surface; misalignment. | Clean the magnetic surface on both the handheld and the dock; ensure the handheld is aligned correctly with the dock. |
| Difficulty Changing Spray Settings | Mineral buildup in spray face mechanism. | Clean the spray face thoroughly, focusing on the rotating mechanism. |
