Operating Instructions

1. Mode Selection

The DHP 482 Z offers three primary modes: drilling, screw driving, and impact drilling. Rotate the adjustment ring near the chuck to select the desired mode:

2. Speed Selection

The tool features a 2-speed mechanical gear selector located on top of the drill:

3. Torque Adjustment

In screw driving mode, adjust the torque ring to one of the 21 settings. Lower numbers provide less torque, suitable for smaller screws or softer materials, while higher numbers provide more torque for larger screws or harder materials. This prevents damage to the workpiece or screw head.

4. Trigger Operation and LED Light

Press the trigger switch to start the tool. The speed is variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed. The integrated LED light illuminates the work area when the trigger is pulled, improving visibility in dimly lit conditions. Releasing the trigger activates the electronic motor brake, stopping the chuck rotation quickly.

5. Using the Makita B-53811 Bit and Drill Set

The included 100-piece set provides a wide range of bits and drills for various tasks. Select the appropriate bit type (e.g., HSS drill bits for metal, wood drill bits for wood, masonry drill bits for concrete/masonry, screwdriver bits for fasteners) based on the material and application. Always ensure the bit is securely fastened in the chuck before operation.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Regularly clean the tool's ventilation openings to prevent overheating. Wipe down the tool body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. The eXtreme Protection Technology (XPT) helps protect against dust and water splashes, but the tool should not be submerged in water.

2. Chuck Maintenance

Keep the chuck jaws clean and free of debris to ensure proper gripping of bits. Periodically apply a small amount of lubricant to the chuck threads if it becomes stiff.

3. Storage

Store the drill driver and the bit set in a dry, secure location, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures. Keep out of reach of children.
